(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시 보건환경연구원이 9일, 2026년 여름철 해수욕장 개장 시기를 앞두고 관내 해수욕장 및 다중이용해변을 대상으로 수질과 백사장 모래 안전성 조사를 추진한다고 밝혔다.

보건환경연구원에 따르면, 이번 조사는 여름철 해수욕장 이용객 증가에 따라 발생할 수 있는 위생 위해요인을 사전에 확인하고, 시민과 관광객이 안심하고 해양휴양지를 이용할 수 있는 환경을 조성하기 위해 마련됐다.

해수욕장 수질검사는 개장 전, 운영 중, 폐장 후로 나누어 시기별로 실시하며, 운영 기간에는 2주 간격으로 점검할 계획으로 백사장 모래 조사는 이용객이 직접 접촉하는 해변 공간의 안전성을 확인하기 위해 개장 전 실시한다. 

수질은 장염과 피부염 등을 유발할 수 있는 장구균과 대장균을, 백사장 모래는 납, 카드뮴, 수은, 6가크롬, 비소 등 인체 위해 가능성이 있는 중금속 항목을 검사한다.

조사 결과는 관계 부서와 공유해 현장 관리에 활용하고, 시민들이 직접 확인할 수 있도록 보건환경연구원 누리집과 해양환경정보포털을 통해 공개될 예정이다. 

또, 기준 초과나 이상 징후가 확인되면 현장 확인과 추가 조사를 신속히 실시하고, 관계 기관과 협력해 오염원 확인 및 개선 조치가 이루어질 수 있도록 지원할 방침이다.

한편, 보건환경연구원은 조사 결과의 신뢰성을 확보하기 위해 지난 6월 8일 군·구 담당자 대상으로 해수욕장 수질 및 백사장 모래 조사에 필요한 시료채취 요령, 멸균용기 사용법, 시료 보관 및 운반 절차 등 현장 실무 기준과 주의사항을 안내하며, 조사 절차의 표준화와 현장 조사 품질 향상에 중점을 두고 사전 교육을 실시했다.

The Incheon Institute of Health and Environment announced on the 9th that it will conduct investigations into water quality and the safety of sand at beaches and public waterfront areas within its jurisdiction ahead of the 2026 summer beach season opening.

According to the Institute, this investigation was organized to identify potential hygiene hazards that may arise due to the increase in beachgoers during the summer, and to create an environment where citizens and tourists can use marine resorts with peace of mind.

Water quality inspections at beaches are conducted seasonally, divided into pre-opening, during operation, and post-closing periods. During the operation period, inspections are planned to be conducted at two-week intervals. Pre-opening sand inspections are carried out to verify the safety of the beach areas that visitors come into direct contact with.

Water quality is tested for enterococci and E. coli, which can cause enteritis and dermatitis, while beach sand is tested for heavy metals that pose a potential risk to human health, such as lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, and arsenic.
