(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 법무부가 지난 2일 오후 1시 제주도 서귀포시 강정크루즈터미널에서 제주도 크루즈 자동심사대 도입 기념행사를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

법무부에 따르면, 이번 행사에는 오영훈 제주특별자치도지사, 오순문 서귀포시장 등 제주도 관계자를 비롯해 차용호 법무부 출입국·외국인정책본부장, 박재완 제주출입국·외국인청장 등 CIQ 관계자도 참석하여 자리를 빛냈다. 

법무부는 출입국절차 지연으로 인해 크루즈 관광객의 제주도 관광시간이 줄어드는 문제를 해결하기 위해 크루즈 자동심사대를 항만에서는 최초로 도입했다.

수천명의 크루즈 관광객이 일시에 하선하여 7~8시간 내에 관광을 마치고 크루즈로 복귀해야 하는 크루즈 관광의 특성상 신속한 출입국심사 요구는 크루즈 관광 업계의 절실한 목소리였다. 

이에 따라, 법무부는 크루즈터미널에 국내 최초로 크루즈 자동심사대를 도입하기로 결정하고, 2025년 정부 예산 52억 5천만원을 투입하여 제주항 크루즈터미널에 자동심사대 10대, 강정크루즈터미널에 28대의 자동심사대를 설치했다.

차용호 법무부 출입국·외국인정책본부장은 크루즈 자동심사대 도입으로 승객 5천명 이상의 초대형 크루즈선 입항 시 기존 2시간 30분 걸리던 입국심사가 1시간 이상 단축되어 1시간 30분 이내에 입국심사를 마칠 것이라고 밝혔다.

이제부터 제주도를 방문하는 크루즈 관광객은 크루즈 자동심사대를 이용하여 편리하고 신속하게 출입국심사를 받고 여유 있게 기항지 관광을 즐길 수 있게 됐다.

또한, 크루즈 자동심사대는 입국심사 현장에서 취득한 얼굴 사진을 실시간으로 과거 법 위반자와 비교 분석함으로써 신속하게 규제자를 적발할 수 있고 심사의 정확성을 보다 높일 수 있게 됐다.

차용호 법무부 출입국·외국인정책본부장은 “이번 제주도 크루즈 자동심사대 도입을 계기로, 전국 주요 크루즈 항만(인천, 부산 등)으로 자동화 시스템을 확대 적용하여 심사 인력 확보의 부담을 줄이고, 안전하고 신속한 국경관리의 기반을 마련할 계획이다”고 말했다.
