(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시교육청이 2일, 최근 ‘바다학교 포럼’을 열어 올해 운영 성과를 공유하고 향후 협력 방안을 논의했다고 밝혔다.

인천시교육청에 따르면, ‘섬으로 가는 바다학교’는 2023년부터 13회 운영되어 56교, 2,700여 명이 참여했으며, 2024년 시범 운영 이후 올해 본격 추진된 ‘무의바다학교’에는 무의도·소무의도·볼음도·영종도에서 중학교 1학년 학생 71교 81학급, 1,723명이 참여했다. 

두 프로그램을 합하면 2023년부터 올해까지 약 4,500명의 학생과 교직원이 참여한 것으로 집계됐다.

포럼에서는 참여 교사들이 교육과정 연계 방식과 학생 변화 사례를 공유했으며, 

또한 바다학교 활동가와 협력 기관은 교육청–학교–해양교육단체–지역기관–대학교 간 협력의 성과를 평가하며, 향후 특수학급 등 다양한 대상에게 프로그램을 확대할 필요가 있다고 의견을 모았다.

교육청은 이날 바다학교 운영에 참여한 인천대학교, 강화도시민연대, 인천녹색연합, 인천환경운동연합, 지구의벗환경교육센터, 황해섬네트워크 등 협력 단체 및 기관 관계자에게 감사장과 감사패를 전달했다.

포럼에 이어 인천대학교와 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다. 

이번 협약에 따라 2026년부터 인천대학교 RISE 사업단과 협력해 바다학교 교육활동가 양성과정과 교사 대상 기초 연수를 운영해 보다 전문적이고 체계적인 교육자 양성 기반을 마련할 계획이다.

도성훈 교육감은 “기관·단체·지역사회가 함께한 거버넌스 덕분에 올해 바다학교를 안전하게 운영할 수 있었다”며 “앞으로도 지속적인 협력 속에서 학생들이 바다를 배우는 교육이 더욱 발전하길 바란다”고 말했다.
