(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 법무부가 1일부터 자동출입국심사대 이용이 가능한 국가를 기존 4개국(독일, 대만, 홍콩, 마카오)에서 총 18개국으로 대폭 확대했다고 밝혔다. 

법무부에 따르면, 이번 조치는 한국을 찾는 외국인들이 입국심사 과정에서 겪는 긴 대기시간으로 인한 불편을 줄이기 위한 것이다. 

자동출입국심사대를 이용할 수 있도록 새롭게 포함된 국가(14개국)는 영국, 프랑스, 이탈리아, 핀란드, 포르투갈, 체코, 네덜란드, 헝가리, 호주, 뉴질랜드, 멕시코, 일본, 싱가포르, 아랍에미리트(UAE)이다.

이번 확대 조치에 포함된 국가는 우리나라 국민에게 자동출입국심사를 일방적으로 허용하고 있는 국가, 우리나라와 인적 교류가 많은 국가, 외교 관계, 국내 불법체류 등을 종합 고려하여 선정됐다.

또한, 자동출입국심사 사전등록을 위한 장소도 인천공항의 기존 제1여객터미널 입국장 서편 1곳 외에도 제1여객터미널 동편, 제2여객터미널 입국장 동편·서편을 추가 확대했다.

자동출입국심사 이용국가가 확대된 첫 날 자동심사대를 이용하여 입국한 일본 국적의 A씨는 “입국심사가 너무 간단하고 빨라서 인상적이었다”고 소감을 밝혔다.

또, 싱가포르 국적의 B씨와 가족들은 “가족 중 어른은 자동심사대를, 아이들은 가족친화심사대를 이용하여 입국심사를 받을 수 있어 아주 효율적이고 빠르다고 느꼈다”고 말했다. 

또한 이탈리아 국적의 C씨는 “자동출입국심사가 빠르고 간편해서 좋았고 특히 등록부터 자동심사대 이용까지 동선과 안내가 잘되어 있어 더욱 이용하기 편했다”며 소감을 밝혔다.

법무부는 이번 조치로 전체 외국인 입국자의 약 40%가 자동출입국심사를 이용할 수 있게 되었다고 밝히며, 2026년 1월 인천공항에서의 시범운영 결과를 분석하여 전국 공항으로 확대 여부를 결정할 계획이다.
