인천시교육청에 따르면, 기존에는 비교과 연수 대상자 수가 적어 연수의 효율적인 운영을 위해 전국 시도교육청 중 주관교육청을 선정해 전국 단위로 자격연수를 진행 했으며, 이로 인한 장거리 이동과 경비 부담, 숙박 등 어려움이 발생했다.
인천시교육청은 이러한 불편을 해소하고자 경인교육대학교와 협의를 거쳐 독자적인 연수 과정 개설을 추진해 왔으며, 그 결과 경인교대 교육연수원에 비교과교사 1급 정교사 자격연수 과정을 신설했다.
새 연수 과정은 7월부터 약 3주간 진행되며, 비교과교사들의 연수 접근성과 만족도가 크게 향상될 전망이다.
도성훈 교육감은 “선생님들의 연수 환경 개선과 역량 강화를 위해 다양한 프로그램을 지원하겠다”며 “교사들의 또 다른 어려움은 없는지 살펴보고 불편을 해소하기 위해 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
