(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 전 세계 양궁의 명수들이 인천 계양에 모여 최고의 궁사를 가리는 ‘2025 계양구청장배 국제양궁대회(Gyeyang Open)’가 20일 개막식과 함께 본격적인 5일간의 일정에 돌입했다.

인천시 계양구가 지난해까지 전국 대회로 개최해오던 ‘계양구청장배 양궁대회’를 올해부터 국제 규모로 확대했다.

이번 대회에는 대한민국을 포함한 15개국에서 총 380명의 선수단이 참가해 열띤 경쟁을 펼치며, 세계 양궁의 중심지로서 계양의 위상을 널리 알릴 예정이다.

20일부터 22일까지는 계양아시아드양궁장에서 올림픽 라운드 70m(리커브) 순위전 및 본선 라운드가 진행되며, 23일과 24일에는 계양아라온 수향원에서 단체전과 개인전의 준결승 및 결승전이 펼쳐진다. 

23일과 24일 오후 1시 50분부터 진행되는 준결승 및 결승전은 KBS와 KBS SPORTS 유튜브 채널을 통해 동시 생중계돼, 국내외 팬들이 어디서든 실시간으로 경기를 즐길 수 있다.

또한, 개인전 결승 직후에는 2024 파리올림픽 국가대표 선수들과의 남·여 단체 이벤트 경기가 마련돼, 대회의 열기를 더할 예정이다.

대회 기간 중에는 다양한 부대행사와 체험 프로그램도 함께 진행돼, 선수단은 물론 지역 주민 모두가 함께 즐기는 스포츠 문화축제의 장이 펼쳐진다. 

이번 대회는 양궁에 대한 대중적 관심을 높이고, 참가 선수단의 지역 내 숙박·소비 활동을 통해 지역경제 활성화에도 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

이와 함께 25일에는 외국인 참가 선수단을 위한 외국선수 자체 대회와 워크숍(특강, 문화체험)도 진행된다.

이를 통해 한국의 선진 양궁 기술을 널리 알리고, 참가자들의 한국 문화에 대한 이해를 높이는 등 국제 교류와 대회 만족도 제고에도 기여할 전망이다.

윤환 계양구청장은 이날 개회사를 통해 “계양이 양궁 명문도시로서, 세계 양궁 발전을 이끄는 국제대회를 아시아 최초로 개최하게 되어 매우 뜻깊다.”며 “활의 방향이 같듯, 선수들이 한마음으로 집중과 인내의 미덕을 나누며, 우리 모두가 소망하고 추구하는 우정과 화합을 전 세계에 보여주길 바란다.”고 말했다.

Incheon City Gyeyang-gu expanded the ‘Gyeyang-gu Mayor’s Cup Archery Competition’, which had been held as a national competition until last year, to an international scale starting this year.

A total of 380 athletes from 15 countries, including Korea, will participate in this competition, and the competition will be fierce, widely publicizing Gyeyang's status as the center of world archery.
