(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자)인천시와 인천관광공사가 10일, 문화체육관광부와 한국관광공사가 발표한 ‘2025년 우수 웰니스관광지’에 인천지역 관광지 2곳이 신규 선정되면서, 인천이 전국 광역시 중 가장 많은 총 8곳의 우수 웰니스관광지를 보유하게 됐다고  밝혔다.

인천시에 따르면, 웰니스관광은 지친 현대인의 몸과 마음을 치유하는 체험형 관광으로, 인천시는 지난 2021년 10개소 육성을 시작으로 현재 총 25개의 웰니스 관광지를 보유하고 있다. 

특히, 지난해에는 101만여 명의 관광객을 유치하며 웰니스관광 활성화에 실질적인 성과를 거뒀다.  

이번에 신규로 선정된 인천의 우수 웰니스관광지는 영종국제도시에 위치한 ‘차덕분’과 강화도의 ‘약석원’이다. 

‘차덕분’은 찻(茶)자리 문화를 기반으로 한 웰빙푸드 체험 프로그램을 통해 전통 다도와 현대적 웰니스 콘텐츠가 조화를 이뤘다는 점에서 높은 평가를 받았다. 

‘약석원’은 강화도 특산품인 사자발약쑥과 한방 철학을 접목한 좌훈, 찜질 프로그램을 운영해 심신 치유와 면역력 증진에 기여하는 힐링 공간으로 주목받았다.

이로써 인천은 기존에 우수 웰니스관광지로 선정된 파라다이스시티 씨메르, 더 스파 앳 파라다이스, 왕산마리나(현대요트), 더스파하스타, 경원재 앰배서더 인천, 금풍양조장 등 6개소와 함께 총 8개소를 보유하게 되어 대한민국 대표 웰니스관광 도시로서의 위상을 한층 강화하게 됐다.

‘우수 웰니스관광지’는 한국관광공사가 국내·외 관광객에게 신뢰도 높은 웰니스 콘텐츠를 국내외에 소개하고, 지역 관광의 질적 성장을 도모하기 위해 2017년부터 운영해 온 인증 제도이다. 

선정된 관광지에는 맞춤형 컨설팅, 온·오프라인 홍보마케팅, 외국인 관광객 유치 판촉 등 다양한 지원이 제공된다.

김영신 시 국제협력국장은 “인천은 섬과 바다, 산과 숲 등 풍부한 자연 자원과 수준 높은 의료자원을 두루 갖춘 웰니스·의료관광 최적지”라며 “앞으로도 시민과 관광객이 일상 속에서 쉼과 치유를 경험할 수 있도록 지역 특화 자원을 지속 발굴하고, 체류형 콘텐츠를 확충해 ‘글로벌 힐링도시, 웰메디 인천’으로 도약해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
