(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시의회 교육위원회 이용창 위원장(국․서구2)가 3일, 최근 인천 서구 루원시티 주민대표들과 간담회를 갖고, 중심상업지구 개발 및 지역 주요 현안에 대한 주민들의 민원을 청취했다고 밝혔다.

인천시의회에 따르면,  간담회에서는 루원시티 중심 상업 1~4구역의 개발 계획, 가정역 1․2번 출구 설치 공사 지연 문제, 서인천IC 명칭 변경, 중학교 신설 등 루원시티 내 다양한 현안들이 폭넓게 논의됐다. 

간담회에는 이용창 위원장을 비롯해 김유곤 산업경제위원장(국․서구3), 장문정·김미연 서구의회 의원, 서구청 관계 공무원 등이 참석해 주민들과 함께 현안 해결 방안을 모색했다.

자리에 함께한 김유곤 산업경제위원장은 “사업 주관기관인 LH도 경제성 논리에만 집중할 것이 아니라 루원시티가 명실상부한 중심도시로 발전할 수 있도록 주민 의견을 반영한 개발 계획을 수립해 주길 바란다”면서 “인천시 역시 ‘권한이 없다’는 말을 반복하기보다 보다 적극적인 행정을 펼쳐달라”고 당부했다.

이용창 위원장은 “이번 간담회는 루원시티 주민 여러분의 깊은 우려와 걱정들을 직접 듣고 함께 논의할 수 있었던 뜻깊은 시간이었다”며 “특히 중심 상업 3․4구역은 수년간 개발이 지연되면서 피로감에 지친 주민들 사이에서 갈등까지 발생하고 있는 상황”이라고 지적했다.

이어 그는 “해당 부지에는 주민들이 원치 않는 오피스텔이 아닌 루원시티의 랜드마크가 될 수 있는 주민 친화적 시설이 들어서야 한다는 점을 다시 한번 확인할 수 있었다”고 강조했다.

아울러, 이 위원장은 “일부 현안은 인천시와 시의회만으로는 해결이 어려운 사안이기 때문에 지역 국회의원도 당초 약속한 대로 루원시티 발전을 위한 국회 차원의 실질적 역할과 활동을 해주시길 바란다”고 말했다.
