(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천 서구가 12일 개최된 제3회 구 명칭변경 추진위원회에서 지난 2주간 진행된 새 명칭 후보에 대한 선호도 여론조사 결과를 공개했다. 

조사에 따르면 구민들의 선호도는 청라구 36.3%, 서해구 35.2%, 서곶구 21.6%, 경명구 7.0% 순으로 최종 집계됐다.

여론조사 결과 1위를 한 ‘청라구’에 선호가 높았던 행정동은 청라동 56.1%, 가정동 38.7% 신현원창동 31.8%, 석남동 31.7% 순으로 나타났다. 

2위를 한 ‘서해구’에 선호가 높았던 행정동은 가좌동 50.8%, 석남동 40.2%, 검암경서동 38.6%, 신현원창동 37.1% 순으로 집계됐다.

구 명칭변경 추진위원회는 지난 회의에서 논의한 최종 명칭 선정 기준에 따라 “과반을 얻지 못한 상위 2개 명칭이 오차범위 내에서 경합하며, 나머지 후보 명칭과는 오차범위를 넘어선 경우”에 해당되어, 최종 명칭을 선정하기 위해 추가적으로 주민의견수렴 절차를 진행하기로 결정했다.

1, 2위를 대상으로 하는 최종 명칭 선호도 조사 방식은 주민 수용성을 높이고 대표성 및 정당성 확보를 위해 권역별 주민설명회 등을 개최하여 주민의견을 충분히 수렴한 후에 다음 회의에서 결정하기로 했다. 

다음 회의 일정은 정해지는 대로 발표할 예정이다. 

이번 구 명칭 선호도 여론조사는 행정체제 개편 후 서구로 분리되는 지역의 18세 이상 거주민을 대상으로 이뤄졌다. 

객관적으로 공정하고 대표성 있는 결과 도출을 위해 전문여론조사 기관에서 지역의 인구 비율(동별, 성별, 연령별)에 맞춰 2,000명의 조사표본을 설계했으며, 전화조사와 대면조사가 병행됐다.

이어 서구 관계자는 “이번 여론조사는 주민들의 객관적인 의견을 확인하는 데 의미가 있으며, 이후 진행되는 절차는 서구의회 및 다양한 소통 창구를 통해 의견을 듣고 충분한 시간을 들여 신중히 검토한 후 추진하기로 했다”라고 전했다.

한편, 서구 명칭 공모 시상금은 4개의 선호도 조사 후보 명칭(경명, 서곶, 서해, 청라)을 제안한 응모자 중 추첨을 통해 10명을 선정하여 3월 중 지급할 예정이다.

Incheon Seo-gu released the results of a public opinion poll on preference for new names conducted over the past two weeks at the 3rd District Name Change Promotion Committee held on the 12th.

According to the survey, the final tally of residents' preferences was Cheongna-gu 36.3%, Seohae-gu 35.2%, Seogot-gu 21.6%, and Gyeongmyeong-gu 7.0%.

According to the opinion poll results, the administrative districts that preferred ‘Cheongna-gu’, which ranked first, were Cheongna-dong at 56.1%, Gajeong-dong at 38.7%, Sinhyeonwonchang-dong at 31.8%, and Seoknam-dong at 31.7%.

The administrative districts that preferred ‘Seohae-gu’, which ranked second, were Gajwa-dong at 50.8%, Seoknam-dong at 40.2%, Geomam-gyeongseo-dong at 38.6%, and Sinhyeonwonchang-dong at 37.1%.

The District Name Change Promotion Committee decided to additionally conduct a procedure to collect residents’ opinions in order to select the final name, as the final name selection criteria discussed at the last meeting stated that “the top two names that did not receive a majority were competing within the margin of error, and the remaining candidate names were beyond the margin of error.”

The final name preference survey method targeting the 1st and 2nd places was decided at the next meeting after sufficiently gathering the opinions of residents by holding resident briefing sessions by region to increase resident acceptance and secure representativeness and legitimacy.

The schedule for the next meeting will be announced as soon as it is set.

This public opinion survey on the preference for the district name was conducted on residents aged 18 or older in the region that will be separated into Seo-gu after the administrative system reorganization.

In order to produce objective, fair, and representative results, a professional public opinion survey agency designed a survey sample of 2,000 people according to the population ratio of the region (by neighborhood, gender, and age), and telephone and face-to-face surveys were conducted in parallel.

A Seo-gu official then said, “This public opinion survey is meaningful in confirming the objective opinions of residents, and we decided to proceed with the subsequent procedures after listening to opinions through the Seo-gu Council and various communication channels and carefully reviewing them for sufficient time.”

Meanwhile, the prize money for the Western name contest will be paid in March to 10 winners selected through a lottery among the applicants who proposed the four most popular names (Gyeongmyeong, Seogot, Seohae, and Cheongna).
