인천시에 따르면, 시는 12일 샤펠드미앙에서 올해 신규 뿌리깊은 가문 2개 가문을 발굴하여 기존 가문을 포함해 34개 가문 대표 및 종원 40여 명이 참석한 자리에서 감사패 수여식을 진행했다.

이번에 신규로 선정된 가문은 역사적 자료와 지역사회 의견을 종합적으로 수렴해 결정됐다.

‘인천뿌리가문’은 인천에서 200년 이상 거주한 가문이나 인천 본관 성씨 가문을 대상으로 관내 문화원 등의 추천을 받아 족보와 역사적 사료를 통한 사실 확인 절차를 거쳐 선정된다.

이번에 새롭게 선정된‘인천뿌리가문’은 인천에서 300~500여년간 정주하며 지역사회에 기여한 공로가 큰 성주이씨(문열공파)와 임천조씨(오재공파) 두 가문이다.

성주이씨(문열공파)는 본관이 경상북도 성주군으로, 파시조는 고려 후기 문신이자 학자로 유명한‘이화에 월백하고’를 쓴 이조년(李兆年, 시호 문열공)이다. 

성주이씨 후손들은 영원공, 명후공으로 분파해 인천 서구 마전동과 당하동 일대에 오랜 세월 정주해왔다. 

이들은 조선 시대 다수의 과거 급제자를 배출하며 지역사회에서 중요한 역할을 해왔으며, 현재까지도 많은 후손들이 인천에서 거주하고 있다.

임천조씨(오재공파)는 본관이 충청남도 부여군 임천으로, 대표적 인물로는 조선 숙종과 영조 시대 문신이었던 조정만(趙正萬)이 있다. 

그는 송준길의 문하에서 학문을 닦고, 공조 및 형조 판서를 역임했다. 

임천조씨 후손들은 인천 남동구 도림동을 중심으로 정주해왔으며, 현재도 남동구 일대에서 활발한 활동을 이어가고 있다. 

조정만의 묘는 조선 후기 문신들의 묘역 중 역사적 가치를 인정받아 1990년 인천광역시 기념물로 지정되어 있다.
