(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 남동구가 11일, 구민 안전을 위해 도입한 자전거 단체보험이 예기치 못한 사고 대처에 큰 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났고 밝혔다.

남동구에 따르면 자전거 단체보험 가입 첫해인 2019년 7월 1일부터 올해 1월까지 총 1,541건, 8억 8,698만 원의 보험료를 지급했다. 

자전거 단체보험은 불의의 사고로 인한 피해를 줄이고 자전거 이용을 활성화 하기 위해 구가 2019년 처음 도입한 제도다.

보험금 지급은 2023년 297건, 2024년 358건으로 매년 지급률이 증가하는 추세이다.

남동구는 올해도 모든 구민이 안심하고 자전거를 탈 수 있도록 ‘남동구 자전거 단체보험’을 가입했다.

남동구에 주소를 둔 주민이라면 누구나 별도 절차 없이 자동으로 보험에 가입돼 사고 발생 시 치료비 등을 지원받을 수 있다.

주요 보장 범위는 사망 시 1,500만 원, 등급에 따른 후유장해 1,500만 원 한도, 4주 이상 진단 시 위로금 20~60만 원과 6일 이상 입원의 경우 20만 원을 지원한다. 

또한, 자전거 사고로 형사상 문제가 발생하였을 때도 지원받을 수 있다.

자전거 사고 1건당 벌금 2,000만 원 한도, 변호사 선임 비용 200만 원 한도, 교통사고 처리 지원금 1인당 3,000만 원을 지원받을 수 있다.

박종효 구청장은 “자전거 단체보험을 통해 모든 구민이 자전거를 더욱 안심하고 이용하기를 바란다”며 “앞으로도 더 많은 구민이 혜택을 받을 수 있도록 노력하겠다”라고 말했다.
