(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시교육청이 지난 10일 동아시아국제교육원에서 ‘2025 인천-뉴욕 고교생 국제교류단 발대식’을 개최했다고 밝혔다. 

인천시교육청에 따르면, 이번 국제교류는 인천세계로배움학교 프로그램의 일환으로, 2024년 7월 도성훈 교육감의 뉴욕 교육청 방문을 계기로 추진됐다. 

국제교류 프로그램에는 인천시 직업계고 및 일반고 학생 30명이 참여하여 뉴욕시 고등학생들과 상호 방문하여 교육 및 문화 교류를 진행한다.

학생들은 뉴욕 브롱크스 과학고등학교 등 5개 학교에서 교육과정을 체험하고, 뉴욕교육청, UN 본부, 워싱턴 D.C. 국회의사당, 스미소니언 박물관 등 주요 기관 및 문화·역사 명소를 탐방할 예정이다.

또한, 글로벌 시민 역량 강화 프로젝트와 공동 학술 교류에도 참여한다.

이번 발대식에서는 운영 계획 발표, 학생들의 팀별 프로젝트 발표, 학부모 응원 영상 상영 순으로 진행되었다.

특히, 뉴욕시교육청 수석 부교육감인 다니엘 위즈버그(Daniel Weisberg)는 축하 영상에서 인천시교육청과 함께 국제교류 사업을 추진함에 대해 기대감을 표하며, 뉴욕시교육청 차원에서 적극적인 지원을 아끼지 않겠다고 밝혔다.

교류단은 3월 17일부터 30일까지 뉴욕 및 워싱턴 D.C.에서 활동하며, 귀국 후 결과 보고회를 개최하고 7월에는 뉴욕 고등학생들의 인천 방문이 예정되어 있다.

인천시교육청은 학생들이 다양한 문화 경험을 쌓고 글로벌 리더로 성장할 수 있도록 지원할 계획이다.

Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education announced that it held the ‘2025 Incheon-New York High School International Exchange Group Inauguration Ceremony’ at the East Asia International Education Institute on the 10th.

According to Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education, this international exchange was promoted as part of the Incheon World Learning School program and was promoted in July 2024 when Superintendent of Education Doh Sung-hoon visited the New York Office of Education.

The international exchange program will involve 30 students from Incheon City’s vocational and general high schools, who will visit each other with New York City high school students and conduct educational and cultural exchanges.

Students will experience the curriculum at five schools, including the Bronx High School of Science in New York, and visit major institutions and cultural and historical sites, including the New York City Board of Education, the UN Headquarters, the Washington D.C. Capitol, and the Smithsonian Museum.

They will also participate in a global citizen capacity building project and joint academic exchanges.

The inauguration ceremony included an announcement of the operation plan, a presentation of each student’s team project, and a screening of a video to cheer on parents.
