(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천계양소방서가 11일, 봄철을 맞아 나들이 차량 증가가 예상됨에 따라 차량용 소화기 비치를 독려하고자 차량용 소화기 비치 의무화 확대에 대해 홍보한다고 밝혔다.

계양소방서에 따르면 차량 화재는 대부분 엔진 과열 등 기계적 요인으로 발생한다. 

차량에서 화재가 발생하면 연료 등 각종 오일과 차량 내 가연물로 인해 연소가 급격히 확대된다. 차량용 소화기를 활용한 신속한 대응이 중요한 이유다.

지난해 12월 1일 ‘소방시설 설치 및 관리에 관한 법률’ 개정안이 시행됨에 따라 차량용 소화기 의무 설치 대상이 기존 7인승 이상 차량에서 5인승 이상 차량으로 확대됐다.

차량용 소화기를 구입할 때는 ‘자동차 겸용’ 표시가 있는 제품인지 확인해야 한다. 소화기를 확보했다면 화재 시 신속한 대응을 위해 손쉽게 사용할 수 있는 곳에 비치하는 게 중요하다.

김희곤 서장은 “차량 화재는 예기치 않게 발생할 수 있고 초기 진압으로 큰 피해를 막을 수 있다”며 “소중한 생명과 재산을 지키기 위해 차량마다 소화기를 꼭 구비해달라”고 전했다.
