(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 계양구가 4일,지역의 역사와 문화를 알리기 위해 ‘황어장터3·1만세운동거리’와 ‘계양아라온거리’, 2곳에 명예도로명을 지정했다고 밝혔다.

계양구에 따르면, ‘명예도로명’은 기존 도로명이 부여된 구간에 특별한 의미나 목적을 반영해 추가로 별칭을 부여하는 것이다.

계양구는 계양의 역사와 지역 문화 등을 재조명함으로써 지역의 정체성을 강화하고 구민의 자긍심을 높이기 위해 명예도로명 지정을 추진했다. 

앞서 명예도로명 부여를 위한 계획 수립과 주민 의견 수렴을 진행해 지난달 25일 계양구 주소정보위원회의 심의를 거쳤다. 

게양구는 ‘황어장터3·1만세운동거리’는 1919년 3월 24일 일제강점기에 일어난 3·1만세운동의 역사적 의미를 되새기고 항일 투쟁 선열들의 희생정신을 기리기 위해 황어로126번길에 명예도로명을 지정했으며, 이를 통해 지역 주민들의 역사적 자긍심을 높이는 계기를 마련하고자 한다. 

또한, ‘계양아라온거리’는 지난해 인천9경에 선정된 계양구의 대표 관광명소인 ‘계양아라온’을 보다 널리 알리고 지역경제 활성화를 위해 아라자전거북길 일부 구간에 명예도로명을 지정했으며, 지역 관광 홍보와 경제적 효과를 동시에 창출할 것으로 기대되고 있다.

윤환 구청장은 “이번 명예도로명 지정을 통해 지역의 역사와 문화를 알리고 도시 브랜드 가치를 높일 수 있을 것”이라고 밝혔다.
