(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천 서구가 지난 4일 연내 1,783개 공장을 대상으로 환경오염 물질 배출 단속에 나선다고 밝혔다. 

서구에 따르면, 미세먼지 고농도 계절, 장마철 등 대기·수질 오염 위험도가 높아지는 시기에 맞춰 기획단속을 진행할 예정이다.

서구는 이날  ‘환경오염물질 배출사업장 통합 지도·점검 계획’ 수립을 알리며 주민건강위협 환경 현안 집중관리, 환경오염 사전 예방 및 신속 대응, 주민참여 환경행정 추진, 환경개선 지원사업 추진 등 2025년 주요 추진사항을 발표했다. 

주민 건강을 위협하는 환경오염물질 배출 업체를 단속하고, 체계적인 감시 시스템을 마련하겠다는 계획이다. 

이와 함께 공장이 자율적으로 오염 물질 배출 관리에 힘쓸 수 있도록 ‘자율 점검의 날’을 운영하고 주민이 참여하는 민관 합동점검도 추진한다고 덧붙였다. 

서구 관계자는 “주거지 가까운 곳에 환경오염물질 배출 공장이 있는 경우, 주민 건강에 큰 악영향을 미치는 만큼, 환경오염사고 사전 예방에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 서구는 지난해 환경오염물질 배출업소 1,131개소에 대해 지도․점검을 시행하여 ‘미신고(무허가) 배출시설 설치·운영’ 및 ‘대기오염도 검사 미이행’ 등 환경 법규 위반사항 116건을 적발했다. 

이 외 중대한 위반사항에 대한 사법 조치를 비롯해 조업정지, 초과 배출 부과금 부과, 과태료 부과 등의 행정처분을 내렸다.
