(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시의회 건설교통위원회가 지난 7일 인천시청 브리핑룸실에서‘영종도 한상드림아일랜드 부지에 대한 정밀한 토양오염 실태조사’를 촉구했다.

인천시에 따르면, 최근 한상드림아일랜드 조성 과정에서 불량 건설폐기물, 폐주물사, 산업폐기물 등이 골프장 부지(약 165만1천㎡)에 불법적으로 매립됐다는 민원이 지속적으로 제기되고 있다. 

이와 관련해 건설교통위원회는 인천광역시와 인천중구청에 골프장 부지 전반에 대한 과학적이고 객관적인 토양오염 및 폐기물 매립 여부에 대한 정밀 조사를 요청했다.

건설교통위원회 관계자는 “세계한상드림아일랜드가 대한민국을 대표하는 관문으로, 국내외 관광객들이 찾는 깨끗하고 안전한 휴양·문화 명소로 조성돼야 한다”고 강조했다.

이에 따라 “부지 내 오염 가능성을 명명백백히 검증하고, 불법 폐기물 매립 문제를 투명하게 밝혀야 한다”고 주장했다.

또한, 기자회견에서는 영종도 제2준설토투기장 조성 당시 폐주물사로 추정되는 토양이 반입돼 악취와 토양오염 문제가 발생한 사례를 언급하며, 한상드림아일랜드 부지도 유사한 문제에 자유로울 수 없다는 우려를 제기했다.

김대중 위원장은 “한상드림아일랜드는 휴양, 관광, 문화, 비즈니스, 레저 등 다방면으로 활용될 부지인 만큼, 조성 단계에서부터 철저한 검증과 조치가 필요하다”고 했다.

이에 건설교통위원회는 인천시와 인천중구청이 공정하고 객관적이며 과학적인 조사 실시, 폐기물 매립 여부 확인, 오염 토양 정화 계획 마련 등의 구체적인 조치를 요구했다.
