올해 계양구의 사자성어는 ‘일심협력(一心協力)’이다. 

‘한마음 한뜻으로 서로 힘을 합한다’라는 의미이다. 

구민과 공직자 모두가 한마음 한뜻으로 협력해 ‘더 살기 좋은 계양’을 이루어 내자는 의지를 담고 있다. 

오늘보다 내일이 더 기대되는 도시, 구민과 함께 열어갈 계양의 2025년을 들여다보자.

○ 지속적인 미래 성장 동력을 위한 인프라 확충 

도시가 지속적인 미래 성장 동력을 확보하기 위해서는 양질의 일자리, 청년의 일자리가 있어야 한다. 

계양구는 계양테크노밸리 첨단산업단지 전환으로 경제 자족 도시로의 미래 성장 동력을 확보했다. 

2022년 3기 신도시 중 가장 먼저 첫 삽을 뜬 계양테크노밸리는 디지털 콘텐츠와 정보통신기술산업 중심의 고부가가치 첨단산업단지로 조성될 계획이다. 

현재 병방동 일원에 조성 중인 계양산업단지도 디지털 인프라와 신재생에너지 기반의 미래산업단지로 조성될 예정이다.

또한, 구는 철도 연결 타당성 용역을 실시해 대장홍대선을 계양테크노밸리를 거쳐 박촌역까지 연결하는 최적의 노선과 경제성을 도출해냈다. 

구는 박촌역을 통한 환승을 통해 이미 포화된 계양역의 혼잡도를 분산하고, 원도심과 신도시가 함께 균형 발전할 수 있는 도시 기반을 확보할 계획이다.

기존 ‘계양~강화 고속도로’ 구축안에는 계양구 양방향 진출입로가 없어 우회해야 하는 번거로움이 있었으나, 계양구는 국토교통부와 한국도로공사 등 관계 기관에 강력한 요구를 통해 계양·강화 방면으로 양방향 진출입이 가능한 이화IC 설치를 반영했다. 

아울러 주민들의 숙원사업인 효성동, 병방동, 둑실동, 상야동 등 도로개설을 지속 추진해 한층 더 촘촘한 교통인프라를 확충할 계획이다.

○ 고유의 특색을 갖춘 문화·관광 도시 계양

그동안 문화·관광 인프라가 부족했던 계양은 이제 ‘계양아라온’을 중심으로 새롭게 비상하고 있다. 

계양산과 어우러지는 매력적인 수변 경관을 갖춘 ‘계양아라온’은 차별화된 수변 관광지로 조성되고 있다. 

구는 2023년 황어광장을 중심으로 계양대교 북단에 빛과 조명, 미디어아트와 포토존 등 아름다운 빛을 발산하는 ‘빛의 거리’를 조성했다.

현재 동양동 225번지 일원에 건립 중인 계양3동 실내체육시설을 올해 말까지 준공할 예정이다. 

기존 계양경기장 꽃마루 부지에는 축구장, 테니스장, 그라운드골프장, 어린이물놀이터 등 남녀노소 누구나 이용할 수 있는 약 7만 7천㎡ 규모의 스포츠·레저 복합단지를 조성할 계획이다. 

올해 도시계획시설 결정 등 남은 사전절차를 조속히 추진해 2026년에는 본격적인 공사를 추진할 예정이다. 

구민들의 건강한 여가를 책임질 효성수영장이 1월부터 본격 개장한다. 

효성수영장은 정식 운영 앞서 지난해 12월 모니터링단을 모집해 시범 운영기간을 거치고 안정적인 운영을 위한 만반의 준비를 마쳤다. 

본관 1층에 자리한 수영장은 길이 25m의 레인 6개와 온수풀, 유아풀로 조성됐다. 

또한, 수영장뿐만 아니라 헬스장과 GX룸, 카페테리아 등 구민의 건강한 여가를 지원하는 다양한 공간이 가득하다. 

지난해 7월에는 계양구 최초의 어린이 물놀이장인 ‘오조산공원 어린이물놀이장’을 준공했다. 

면적 727㎡ 규모의 물놀이장은 지역 초등학교 학생들의 의견을 수렴해 우주정거장 콘셉트로 조성됐으며, 물놀이 시설과 족욕장, 그늘막, 탈의실 등의 시설을 갖췄다.
