(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시가 9일, 캠프마켓 아카이브 구축 2단계 사업을 성공적으로 완료했다고 밝혔다. 

인천시에 따르면, 이번 사업은 한국전쟁부터 애스컴 시티 해체 직전까지의 국내외 자료를 발굴·수집하는 작업으로, 총 548건의 자료와 3,396장의 기록물을 확보했다. 

국내 기관에서 수집한 자료 130건을 비롯해 미국립공문서관(National Archives II)에서 확보한 문서, 항공사진, 사진, 영상 등 다양한 형태의 기록물 418건을 포함한다.

캠프마켓 아카이브 구축사업은 캠프마켓의 미래 유산적 가치를 정립하고자 2023년 7월 시작해 2025년까지 3단계에 걸쳐 진행된다. 

일제 강점기부터 캠프마켓 반환기까지 시기별 다양한 유형과 매체 자료를 수집해 캠프마켓 및 주변 도시지역의 역사적 장소성을 재구성하고, 지역 정체성 확립을 위한 자료를 체계적으로 정리하는 것이 목적이다. 

올해 4월부터 진행된 2단계 사업은 1950년부터 1973년까지 애스컴 시티 지역 관련된 기록물을 발굴하는 사업이다. 

특히 미국립공문서관을 방문해 새롭게 발굴한 자료는 총 346건에 달한다. 

이는 1950~60년대 애스컴 시티의 형성과 주변 도시의 변화상을 구체적으로 조명하는 데 중요한 자료로 평가된다.

그중 부평 일대 항공사진과 애스컴 시티 빵 공장 관련 문서자료는 매우 의미 있는 자료로 주목할 만하다. 

1950년 11월 2일 미 공군이 촬영한 항공사진은 한국전쟁 당시 인천육군조병창과 주변 지역의 현황을 생생히 보여준다. 

또한, 애스컴 구역사령부가 제작한 기관지 <ASCOM LOGGER>에서는 ‘한국 최대 군 제빵소’를 소개하며 애스컴 시티의 빵 공장을 구체적으로 조명했다. 

이 외에도 미군 촬영 사진과 영상, 미 해병대 지휘보고서를 통해 애스컴 시티의 재건 과정과 당시 시설물 활용 현황을 확인할 수 있다. 이러한 자료들은 캠프마켓 반환부지의 역사성과 장소성을 규명하는 데 중요한 단서를 제공할 것으로 기대된다.

또, 2025년 1월부터는 최종 3단계 사업이 착수된다. 

이 단계에서는 보다 체계적인 자료 관리와 활용 방안을 마련하고, 디지털 아카이브를 구축해 시민과 연구자들이 언제든 열람할 수 있는 시스템을 운영할 계획이다.

Incheon City announced on the 9th that it had successfully completed the Camp Market Archive Construction Phase 2 Project.

According to Incheon City, this project was a project to excavate and collect domestic and foreign materials from the Korean War to just before the dissolution of Ascom City, and secured a total of 548 pieces of data and 3,396 records.
