(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 부천시가 2일, 중앙공원 북측 광장 여자화장실 정비공사를 마치고 개방했다고 밝혔다.

부천시에 따르면, 이번 정비 공사는 사용자 중심의 설계와 편의시설 확충에 중점을 뒀다.

새롭게 단장한 여자 화장실은 기존보다 공간을 대폭 확대한 총 6개의 개인위생 공간을 마련해, 한층 더 쾌적한 환경으로 조성됐다. 

특히 세면대 6개 중 2개는 어린이 눈높이에 맞춰 별도로 설치해, 성인 여성부터 어린이까지 누구나 여유롭고 편안하게 이용할 수 있도록 했다. 

이와 함께 공원 화장실이 단순한 편의시설을 넘어 시민에게 특별하고 만족스러운 경험을 제공할 수 있도록, 공간 내 디자인 조명과 싱그러운 플랜테리어를 조화롭게 배치해 깔끔하고 특색 있는 분위기를 연출 했다. 

또한 영유아 동반가족을 위한 유아 휴게실을 별도로 마련해 기저귀 교환대와 수유 소파 등 편의시설을 갖추었으며, 아기와 함께 공원을 찾은 보호자들이 안심하고 편리하게 이용할 수 있도록 했다.

이 밖에도 장애인전용 여자 화장실을 조성해 접근성과 이용 편의성을 높였으며, 화장실을 이용하는 동안 발생할 수 있는 위급 상황에 대비해 안심 비상벨도 설치했다.

부천시 공원관리과 관계자는 “중앙공원은 시민의 일상 속 쉼터인 만큼, 화장실 역시 단순한 편의시설을 넘어 깨끗하고 안전한 공간이 돼야 한다는 생각으로 조성했다”며 “이번에 정비한 중앙공원 북측광장 여자화장실을 이용하는 시민 모두가 쾌적하고 만족스러운 경험을 하길 바란다”고 말했다.

부천시는 이번 정비가 여성 이용객의 프라이버시 보호는 물론, 영유아 동반 가족과 장애인을 포함한 모든 시민의 이용 편의 향상에 기여할 것으로 보고 있다. 

아울러 2026년에는 중앙공원 북측 광장 남자화장실도 리모델링 공사를 추진할 계획이다.
