(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시교육청이 지난 25일 ‘인천광역시교육청 폐교재산활용위원회’위원을 위촉하고 제1회 정기회의를 열어 폐교재산 관리와 활용 방안을 논의했다고 밝혔다.

인천시교육청에 따르면, 위원회는 교육행정국장을 위원장으로 내부위원 6명, 교육, 법률, 시설, 시의회 등 각계 전문가인 민간위원 7명 등 13명으로 꾸려졌으며, 2025년 11월 1일부터 2027년 10월 31일까지 2년간 활동한다.

폐교재산의 안전관리와 실태 조사, 자산가치 분석, 유지‧보수 계획, 지자체 요구사항 검토 등 폐교재산 활용과 관련한 자문 역할을 맡는다.

이날 회의에서는 인천 관내 폐교재산 관리 현황이 공유됐다.

전체 60개 폐교 중 40개는 매각됐고 7개는 자체 활용 중이며, 나머지 13개교는 교육청이 관리하고 있다. 

이 중 5개교는 대부 중이며, , 8개교는 교육청이 직접 활용을 추진하고 있다.

도성훈 교육감은 “폐교가 학생과 지역사회에 도움이 되는 공간으로 재탄생할 수 있도록 전문가 의견을 반영해 활용 방안을 마련하겠다”고 말했다.
