(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천강화경찰서가 25일, 올해 들어 급증하고 있는 교통사망 사고를 근절하고자 ‘교통사망사고 근절을 위한 60일 계획’을 추진하기 위해 총력대응에 들어갔다고 밝혔다.

강화경찰서에 따르면 1∼4월 교통사고 사망자는 노인·보행자·오토바이 등 모두 5명으로 전년 대비 4명이 증가하였고, 4월 들어서만 2명이  사망했다.

강화경찰은 지난 21일부터 5월 6일까지 계도 및 홍보 기간을 거친 뒤, 6월 19일까지 60일간 인천청 교통순찰대(싸이카), 기동순찰대의 지원을 받아, 교통·지역경찰 등 전 기능이 협업해 음주(숙취) 운전·신호위반·안전띠·안전장구 미착용 등 교통법규 위반행위를 단속하는 등 교통사망사고 예방에 총력 대응한다.

고성한 강화경찰서장은 ‘교통사망사고 근절을 위한 60일 계획’추진 기간 중, 여러 기관·단체 주민분들께서도 음주운전 근절 및 교통법규 준수 등 교통안전을 위한 노력을 다해 주시기를 바라며, 모두의 노력  속에 보다 나은 교통안전 문화가 정착되면 교통 위험으로부터 안전한, 교통사망사고 없는 강화 지역이 될 수 있을 것이라며 지역주민들의 적극적인 협조를 당부했다.
