(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 남동구가 8일, 만수천 하천 복원사업 추진을 위해 실시한 소하천 명칭 공모에서 ‘만수천’이 가장 많은 표를 얻었다고 밝혔다.

남동구에 따르면, 지난 2~3월 진행된 이번 설문조사는 2천 100여 명이 참여한 결과 총 6개의 명칭 후보 중 ‘만수천’이 42%로 최고 득표율을 기록했으며, ‘남동천(38%)’, ‘담방천(11%)’ 등이 뒤를 이었다. 

이번 명칭 공모는 하천 복원을 위한 소하천 지정의 사전 절차로 추진됐다.

복원사업은 소하천정비법에 따라 소하천으로 지정 후 본격적으로 추진되며, 이를 위해선 관련 조항에 따라 공식적인 명칭 선정이 우선 필요하다.

남동구는 설문 결과를 토대로 기초소하천관리위원회 심의 등을 통해 이달 명칭을 확정 후 광역소하천관리위원회를 거쳐 7월 소하천 지정을 완료, 내년 본격적인 사업 추진을 위한 실시설계용역에 착수할 예정이다.

박종효 남동구청장은 “주민들의 의견을 충분히 반영해 주민들이 원하는 방향으로 하천이 복원될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 만수천 복원은 1990년대 주차난 해소를 위해 콘크리트로 덮였던 하천을 다시 열어 친수공간을 조성하는 사업이다. 

사업 구간은 만수동 909 일원부터 장수천 합류 지점까지 총 2.4㎞ 규모로, 치수 안전성 추가 확보와 녹지 확충, 주민 여가 공간 마련, 유동 인구 유입을 통한 원도심 활성화 효과가 기대된다.

Namdong-gu announced on the 8th that ‘Mansucheon’ received the most votes in the small stream name contest held to promote the restoration project of the Mansucheon stream.

According to Namdong-gu, in the survey conducted in February and March, with approximately 2,100 people participating, ‘Mansucheon’ recorded the highest vote rate with 42% out of a total of 6 name candidates, followed by ‘Namdongcheon (38%)’ and ‘Dambangcheon (11%)’.
