(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 중부지방해양경찰청이 7일, 봄철 꽃게 성어기(4.1.~)를 맞아 우리 해역에서 외국어선의 불법조업 근절을 위해 지난 3월 31일부터 5일간 함정 9척, 항공기 1대 등 대규모 세력을 동원해 불법조업 외국어선 특별단속을 강력하게 실시했다고 밝혔다.

중부해경청에 따르면, 매년 봄 성어기가 시작되는 4월이면 백령도･연평도등 서해 NLL  및 특정해역 인근에 불법조업 외국어선이 다수 출몰하고 있다. 

최근 서해 NLL해역 인근에는 불법조업 외국어선 약 120여 척이 출몰하고 있으며, 이 불법 어선들은 접경해역의 지리적 특성을 악용한 ‘치고빠지기식’ 불법조업을 지속 감행하고 있다.

이번 특별단속 기간 중 해양경찰은 해군과 합동단속을 통해 NLL인근 우리 해역에 침입하여 불법조업을 한 중국어선 2척을 나포하고, 총 77척을 퇴거하는 등 성과를 거뒀다.

중부지방해경청은 특별단속이 끝난 이후에도 우리 어업인과 어족자원 보호를 위해 불법조업 외국어선 출현규모에 따라 특별단속을 추가로 실시하는 등 강력한 단속을 지속 실시할 예정이다.
