(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 부천시가 12일, 시민들의 안전한 자전거 이용을 보장하고 탄소중립 실천을 독려하기 위해 모든 부천 시민을 대상으로 자전거 보험에 가입했다고 밝혔다.

부천시에 주민등록이 돼 있는 시민(등록외국인 포함)은 별도의 가입 절차 없이 자동으로 보험에 가입되며, 전국 어디에서나 자전거 사고 발생 시 보상을 받을 수 있다. 

보험기간은 2025년 3월 5일부터 2026년 3월 4일까지다.

보험 보장 내역은 사망 시 1,000만 원(만 15세 미만 제외),  후유장해 시 최대 1,000만 원,  상해위로금의 경우 전치 4주~8주 진단 시 30만~70만 원,  진단 주 수와 관계없이 4일 이상 입원 시 추가 20만 원,  타인을 사망 또는 부상하게 해 벌금 부담 시 최대 2,000만 원,  변호사 선임 비용 최대 200만 원 지원,  타인을 사망하게 하거나 중·상해를 입혀 공소 제기돼 형사합의가 필요할 경우 최대 3,000만 원 보장(만 14세 미만 제외)이다.

보험 청구는 사고 발생일로부터 3년 이내에 가능하며, 신청 양식은 부천시 자전거 홈페이지에서 다운로드한 뒤 보험사로 직접 청구하면 된다.

부천시 관계자는 “시민들이 안전하게 자전거를 이용할 수 있도록 자전거 보험을 제공하고, 이를 통해 건강한 교통문화를 조성하고 탄소중립을 실천할 계획”이라며 “앞으로도 시민 자전거 학교 운영, 찾아가는 자전거 안전교육, 민·관 합동 안전캠페인 등 다양한 정책을 추진해 부천시가 자전거 친화 도시로 거듭날 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
