(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 법무부 인천서부준법지원센터가 12일 사회봉사명령 대상자 6명을 투입, 정신지체 장애인의 주거환경 개선 사회봉사를 진행했다고 밝혔다. 

서부준법지원센터에 따르면, 이번 봉사활동은 사회적응에 어려움을 겪으며 외부와 단절된 채 극도의 경계심을 안고 홀로 생활하는 정신지체 장애인(남. 59세)의 열악한 환경을 개선하기 위해 마련됐다.

주거지는 오랫동안 방치되어 쓰레기로 가득찬 상태로 위생적인 환경이 절실히 필요한 상황이었으며, 특이 주변 위험 환경에 노출될 가능성이 커 관할 행정복지센터의 지속적인 돌봄이 이루어지고 있었지만 근본적인 해결에는 어려움이 있었다. 

봉사활동은 단순한 청소를 넘어 대상자가 안전하고 위생적인 환경에서 생활할 수 있도록 지원하는데 중점을 두었으며, 외부환경 정리 및 묵은 쓰레기 분리 수거, 마무리 청소까지 꼼꼼하게 진행했다.

인천서부준법지원센터 김동민 소장은“우리 주변에는 아직도 소외 되고도움의 손길이 필요한 이웃들이 많다”며 “앞으로도 도움이 필요한 곳을 적극적으로 발굴하여 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.
