(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 남동구가 8일, 학생 등 교통약자의 보행 안전을 위한 학교 앞 안심 통학로 조성 사업을 추진한다고 8일 전했다.

남동구에 따르면, 구는 최근 사고 위험이 컸던 은봉초등학교와 서창중학교 정문 주변의 보도 단절 구간에 대해 차도와 인도를 분리하고 안전난간을 설치했다.

은봉초는 학교 정문에서 논현로 교차로 앞 연결구간, 서창중학교는 학교 정문에서 서창2지구로 연결되는 구간이 단절되어 있었다. 

특히, 해당 구간은 도로폭이 좁고 길가로 상가와 주택가가 있어 보행공간 확장이 어려워 보도와 차도가 구분되지 않은 상태로 보행자와 차량의 통행이 이뤄졌다.

남동구는 교통사고 예방을 위해 이면도로의 차로 폭을 조정해 별도의 보행 공간을 확보하고 차도와 보도를 분리하는 안전난간을 설치해 보행자가 안심하고 다닐 수 있도록 했다.

또, 보행자 전용 도로의 색상과 포장 재질을 달리해 시인성을 높였다.

남동구는 교통약자의 보행사고는 보도와 차도가 구분되지 않은 이면도로에서 주로 발생하는 만큼 사고 예방을 위해 차도와 높낮이 차이를 둔 보도를 설치하거나 안전난간 등으로 차도와 공간을 분리하는 사업을 확대할 계획이다.

또한, 남동구가 8일, 지역사회 혈액 수급 안정화와 자발적인 헌혈문화 조성을 위해 2025년 상반기 1차 사랑의 헌혈 운동을 추진한다고 밝혔다. 

남동구에 따르면, 헌혈은 남동구 공무원 및 지역 주민을 대상으로 오는 10일 오전 10시부터 오후 4시까지 남동구청에서 진행된다.

헌혈 희망자는 신분증 등을 지참해 남동구청 현관출입구의 대한적십자사 헌혈차량으로 오면 되며, 헌혈자에게는 헌혈증서와 소정의 기념품이 제공된다.

단, 최근 1개월 이내 국내외 말라리아 발생 지역 방문 또는 해외여행 시에는 헌혈이 불가하다.
