(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 지난 7월 1일 인천형 행정개편에 따라 새롭게 출범한 서해구의 첫 입법기관인 ‘제10대 서해구의회’가 6일 개원식을 열고 공식 의정활동을 시작했다.

서해구의회에 따르면 , 의회는 이날 오전 10시 본회의장에서 열린 의장단 선거를 통해 전반기 의장에 고선희 의원(더불어민주당, 나선거구)을, 부의장에 김학엽 의원(국민의힘, 라선거구)을 각각 선출했다.

고선희 의장과 김학엽 부의장은 모두 제9대 의회에서 각각 의장과 의회운영위원장을 지낸 재선의원으로, 풍부한 의정 경험을 바탕으로 새롭게 출범하는 서해구 의회의 안정적인 운영을 이끌 것으로 기대를 모은다.

현재 서해구의회는 더불어민주당 8명, 국민의힘 6명 등 총 14명의 의원으로 구성되어 있다. 분구 이후 새롭게 행정 체계를 갖춰가는 서해구의 안정적인 정착을 위해, 전반기 의회는 집행부에 대한 건설적인 견제와 함께 양당 간 협치를 바탕으로 의정 활동을 이어갈 것으로 보인다.

이날 오후 2시에 열린 개원식 및 개회식은 전체 의원 선서를 시작으로 의장의 개원 및 개회사, 서해구청장의 축사 및 간부공무원 소개 순으로 진행됐으며 이어 행사 말미에는 제10대 서해구의회의 개원을 알리는 현판제막식이 열렸다.

고선희 의장은 개원사에서 "새롭게 출범하는 서해구의 첫 의회에서 전반기 의장을 맡겨주신 구민 여러분과 동료 의원들께 감사드린다"며 "그간의 경험과 초당적 협치를 바탕으로 구민의 목소리를 경청하고, 구민 복리 증진과 행정체제 개편 초기 구정 안정화에 힘쓰겠다"고 밝혔다.

김학엽 부의장도 "서해구의회라는 이름이 구민들께 신뢰를 드릴 수 있도록 의장을 보좌해 균형 잡힌 의회를 만들고, 구민을 위한 민생 의회를 만들기 위해 노력하겠다"고 소감을 전했다.

한편, 서해구의회는 7일 제2차 본회의를 열어 의회운영위원회, 기획행정안전위원회, 복지환경도시위원회 등 3개 상임위원회 위원을 선임하고 위원장을 선출해 원 구성을 마무리할 예정이다.

The '10th Seohae-gu Council,' the first legislative body of Seohae-gu newly launched following the Incheon-style administrative reorganization on July 1, held an opening ceremony on the 6th and officially began its legislative activities.

According to the Seohae-gu Council, through the leadership election held at the main assembly hall at 10 a.m. on that day, Council Member Ko Seon-hee (Democratic Party of Korea, District Na) was elected as Chairperson for the first half of the term, and Council Member Kim Hak-yeop (People Power Party, District Ra) was elected as Vice-Chairperson.

Chairperson Koh Seon-hee and Vice Chairperson Kim Hak-yeop are both two-term members who served as Chairperson and Chairperson of the Council Operations Committee, respectively, during the 9th Council. Based on their extensive legislative experience, they are expected to lead the stable operation of the newly launched Seohae-gu Council.

She added, "Based on my past experience and bipartisan cooperation, I will listen to the voices of the residents and strive to enhance their welfare and stabilize the district administration during the initial stages of administrative system reform."

Vice Chairperson Kim Hak-yeop also shared his sentiments, saying, "I will assist the Chairperson to create a balanced council so that the name 'Seohae-gu Council' can inspire trust in the residents, and I will work to build a people-oriented council dedicated to the residents' livelihoods."

Meanwhile, the Seohae-gu Council plans to hold its second plenary session on the 7th to finalize the council's composition by appointing members to three standing committees—the Council Operations Committee, the Planning, Administration and Safety Committee, and the Welfare, Environment and Urban Committee—and electing their chairpersons.
