(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천 서해구가 1일 구재용 서해구청장이 취임과 함께 공식 임기를 시작했다고 밝혔다. 

서해구에 따르면, 구재용 청장은 첫 일정으로 서해구와 부평구를 잇는 ‘장고개로 도로개설사업’ 공사 현장을 방문했으며 장고개로 도로개설사업은 서해구 가좌동과 부평구를 연결하는 총연장 1,380m 규모의 교통 인프라 사업으로 완공 시 출퇴근 시간대 교통 혼잡 완화와 지역 균형 발전에 기여할 것으로 기대되는 서해구 핵심 사업이다.

현장을 점검한 구재용 구청장은 “장고개로 도로개설은 단절된 두 지역을 연결하고 서해구 도시 경쟁력을 강화하는 중요한 사업”이라며, “늘 현장에서 주민의 삶과 직결된 현안을 직접 챙기겠다”고 밝혔다.

이어 구재용 구청장은 업무시작 시간인 9시가 되기 전 구청 민원실을 찾아 행정체제 개편에 따른 주민등록 등 데이터 시스템 전환 상태를 직접 확인했다. 

오전 10시 구청 지하 대회의실에서 열린 취임식은 200여 명이 참석한 가운데 진행됐다. 

서해구 관계자는 “이번 취임식은 서해구의 출발과 구재용 서해구청장 취임을 정중히 알리면서도 규모와 예산을 줄이고 간소하게 행사를 준비했다”고 설명했다. 

취임식은 서해구립합창단의 공연을 시작으로 국민의례, 약력소개, 취임선서, 취임사, 내빈축사 등으로 진행됐다.

이날 취임식에서는 구재용 청장이 청년, 소상공인, 사회적 약자, 경로자 등 각계각층을 대표하는 주민대표 4명과 함께 ‘구민 동행 공동실천 서약서’에 서명하는 시간을 가지며 서해구민과 서해구청이 서로를 든든한 동반자로 믿고 의지하며 고령친화 ·따뜻한 복지 · 민생경제·젊고 역동적 서해구를 만들기 위해 함께 실천할 것을 다짐했다.

구재용 청장은 취임사를 통해 “오늘 새롭게 출범한 서해구의 초대 구청장이라는 막중한 책임감과 사명감을 안고 이 자리에 섰다”며, “분구 직후 마주한 심각한 재정위기를 외면하지 않고, 즉시 '서해구·검단구 재정 TF'를 가동해 인천시와 긴밀히 협의하며 안정적인 기틀을 세우겠다”고 강조했다. 

이어 “원도심의 활력을 되찾을 재개발·재건축 통합지원센터 설치, 청라·루원시티의 명품도시 고도화, AI·로봇 중심의 미래 경쟁력 강화 등 서해구의 지도를 바꾸는 혁신을 시작하겠다”며 “불필요한 지출은 구청장부터 뼈를 깎는 심정으로 줄여나가고, 오직 39만 구민만 바라보는 소통 행정을 펼치겠다”고 포부를 밝혔다.

Incheon Seohae-gu announced on the 1st that Mayor Gu Jae-yong officially began his term upon taking office.

According to Seohae-gu, Mayor Gu Jae-yong visited the construction site of the 'Jangogae-ro Road Construction Project,' which connects Seohae-gu and Bupyeong-gu, as his first official schedule. The Jangogae-ro Road Construction Project is a key initiative for Seohae-gu, a transportation infrastructure project with a total length of 1,380 meters connecting Gajwa-dong in Seohae-gu and Bupyeong-gu. Upon completion, it is expected to contribute to alleviating traffic congestion during rush hour and promoting balanced regional development.

District Mayor Gu Jae-yong, who inspected the site, stated, “The opening of Janggogae-ro is an important project that connects two disconnected regions and strengthens the urban competitiveness of Seohae-gu,” adding, “I will always personally oversee pending issues directly related to the lives of residents on-site.”

In his inaugural address, District Head Gu Jae-yong stated, "I stand here today bearing a heavy sense of responsibility and duty as the first District Head of the newly launched Seohae-gu." He emphasized, "I will not turn a blind eye to the severe financial crisis faced immediately after the district division; instead, I will immediately activate the 'Seohae-gu & Geomdan-gu Financial Task Force' to establish a stable foundation through close consultation with Incheon City."

 He continued by expressing his aspirations, stating, “I will initiate innovations that will change the map of Seohae-gu, such as establishing an integrated support center for redevelopment and reconstruction to restore vitality to the old downtown, upgrading Cheongna and Ruwon Cities into premium cities, and strengthening future competitiveness centered on AI and robots.” He added, “Starting with the mayor, I will drastically reduce unnecessary expenditures and implement a communicative administration focused solely on the 390,000 residents.”
