(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시교육청이 지난 8일, 도성훈 교육감이 정석항공과학고등학교에서 최교진 교육부 장관과 ‘협약형 특성화고 현장 간담회’를 가졌다고 밝혔다.

인천시교육청에 따르면, 이번 간담회는 교육부가 지정한 협약형 특성화고의 운영 현장을 살펴보고, 지역 산업 수요와 연계한 직업교육의 성과와 향후 발전 방향을 논의하기 위해 마련됐다.

간담회에는 도성훈 인천시교육감과 최교진 교육부 장관을 비롯해 항공 분야 협약형 특성화고 컨소시엄 관계자들이 참석했다.

정석항공과학고는 지난 2024년 제1기 교육부 지정 항공 분야 협약형 특성화고로 선정된 이후, 인천국제공항과 지역 항공산업 생태계를 기반으로 항공 MRO(정비·수리·분해점검), 항공 전기·전자 등 항공정비 분야의 현장 맞춤형 전문 인재 양성 체계를 탄탄히 구축해 왔다.

이날 도성훈 교육감과 최교진 장관은 첨단 항공 정비 실습실을 둘러보며 협약형 특성화고 운영 현황을 확인했으며 이어 진행된 간담회에서는 학생들의 진로 설계, 산업체가 요구하는 항공 정비 기술 역량, 지역 항공산업과 학교 교육과정의 연계 방안 등에 대한 의견을 청취했다.

최교진 장관은 “협약형 특성화고는 교육청·지자체·대학·기업이 학교와 함께 지역에 필요한 인재를 길러내는 새로운 직업교육 모델”이라며 “정석항공과학고가 인천의 항공산업과 함께 성장하는 대표적인 지역 정주형 직업교육 모델로 자리 잡을 수 있도록 교육부도 적극 지원하겠다”고 말했다.

도성훈 교육감은 “인천은 공학과 항만이 입지하고 20개 산업단지 및 첨단 신산업 클러스터가 구축되어 성장 가능성이 매우 큰 도시”라며 “인천의 협약형 특성화고가 지역의 미래를 책임질 기술인재 양성의 중심으로 도약할 수 있도록 교육과정, 취업 지원, 산학협력, 졸업 후 성장관리까지 촘촘하게 지원하겠다”고 화답했다.

또한, 인천시교육청이 지난 일, 교육부가 추진하는 ‘2026년 협약형 특성화고 공모사업’에 재능고등학교가 최종 선정됐다고 밝혔다.

인천시교육청에 따르면, 2024년에 도입된 협약형 특성화고는 지자체, 교육청, 지역 기업, 대학, 유관기관 등이 긴밀한 협력체계를 구축해 지역 산업에 필요한 맞춤형 인재를 양성하는 고등학교다. 

인천시교육청은 2024년 인천반도체고·정석항공과학고, 2025년 영종국제물류고에 이어 올해 재능고등학교가 추가 선정됨에 따라 협약형 특성화고를 총 4개교로 확대하며 인천 직업교육의 선도적 위상을 한층 강화했다.

이번 선정으로 재능고는 ‘피지컬 AI제조’ 분야 협약형 특성화고로 지정되어 미래형 직업교육 모델을 본격적으로 추진하게 된다. 

향후 인천의 제조 기반 인프라와 연계하여 전기·전자·반도체·로봇·헬스케어 융합 기반의 피지컬AI제조 인재 양성을 목표로 교육과정을 고도화하고, 산업체 연계 현장 교육을 펼칠 계획이다.

재능고는 앞으로 5년간 교육부의 재정 지원을 바탕으로 미래형 교육환경 개선, 산업 맞춤형 교육과정 운영, 협약기업 연계 프로그램 활성화, 지역 취업 및 정주 지원 체계 구축 등을 추진한다.

인천시교육청은 이번 선정을 계기로 민·관·학 협력 체계를 더욱 공고히 다지는 한편, 학생들이 인천에서 배우고 취업하며 성장할 수 있도록 인천형 직업교육 안심취업 10년 보장제와 연계한 지원을 확대할 방침이다.

도성훈 교육감은 “이번 선정은 인천 직업교육이 지역의 미래산업과 함께 성장하고 있음을 보여주는 의미 있는 성과”라며 “우리 학생들이 지역 산업의 핵심 인재로 성장해 인천의 발전을 이끌어갈 수 있도록 지역사회와 함께 아낌없는 지원을 이어가겠다”고 말했다.
