몰타의 The Brewhouse Malta에 들어섰을 때

가장 먼저 눈에 들어오는 것은 카페나 문화공간의 분위기보다도

묘하게 낯선 금속 구조물들이다.

처음에는 용도를 알 수 없는 기계처럼 보이지만,

이 건물은 원래 Farsons의 실제 맥주 공장이었다.

내부에 남아 있는 장비들은 그 시절 그대로 보존된 산업 설비들이다.

구리빛을 띠는 거대한 탱크와 배관, 압력을 조절하던 장치들은

단순한 전시물이 아니라 한때 몰타의 음료 산업을 움직이던 핵심 장비였고,

그중 일부는 1920년대 탄산음료를 만들 때 사용되던 기계로 지금은

기능을 멈춘 채 시간의 흔적만을 드러내고 있다.

이 공간이 흥미로운 이유는 과거를 설명하는 텍스트보다도,

실제 물건들이 주는 물리적인 존재감 때문이다.

표면에 남은 마모와 묵직한 구조는 산업의 시대를 직관적으로 보여주며,

현대적으로 재탄생한 공간과 대비를 이루어 더욱 선명한 인상을 남긴다.

결국 이곳은 단순한 복합문화공간이 아니라,

오래된 생산의 기억을 현재 속에 그대로 끌어와 보여주는 살아 있는 아카이브에 가깝다.

At The Brewhouse Malta, what first catches the eye is not the atmosphere of a café

or cultural space, but a series of unfamiliar metal structures.

At first glance, they appear to be strange, almost indecipherable machines

, yet the building was once an actual brewery operated by Farsons,

And the equipment preserved inside is original industrial installations

from that time. The large copper-toned tanks, pipes,

Pressure-control devices were not merely decorative objects but essential components

that once powered Malta’s beverage industry,

Now, they stand still, no longer functioning,

Ultimately, this is not simply a repurposed cultural venue,

The Brewhouse Maltaに足を踏み入れると、

まず目に入るのはカフェや文化空間の雰囲気ではなく、

どこか見慣れない金属の構造物である。

最初は用途の分からない奇妙な機械のように見えるが、

この建物はもともとFarsonsが運営していた実際のビール工場であり、

内部に残されている設備は当時そのままの産業機械である。

銅色の大きなタンクや配管、圧力を調整する装置は単なる展示物ではなく、

かつてマルタの飲料産業を支えていた中核的な存在であり、

その一部は1920年代に炭酸飲料の製造に使われていたものでもある。

現在、それらは動きを止めているが、時間の痕跡をはっきりと刻んでいる。
