(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시교육청이 지난 1일, 도성훈 교육감이 ‘제46회 전국학생과학발명품경진대회’에서 대통령상을 수상한 인천과학고 이정민학생과 김성훈 지도교사를 만나 격려했다고 밝혔다.

인천시교육청에 따르면, 이날 간담회에는 이정민 학생과 학부모, 김성훈 지도교사를 비롯한 관계자 10여 명이 참석해 축하를 나눴다. 

도성훈 교육감은 “이정민 학생과 같은 창의적 인재들이 대한민국 과학 기술의 미래”라며 “이번 수상을 계기로 앞으로도 끊임없이 도전하고 연구하며 사회에 기여하는 훌륭한 과학자로 성장해달라”며 학생을 격려했다.

이정민 학생은 ‘지진 발생 시 자동 탈출 가능한 이중 문’을 개발해 대통령상을 수상했다. 

해당 발명품은 얼음 틀 원리를 활용해 방화문 구조에 적용한 아이디어로, 실용성과 확장 가능성에서 높은 평가를 받았다.

이 학생은 “오랜 시간 노력한 발명품이 대통령상을 받아 기쁘다”며 “앞으로 재난 대응 시스템 개발을 위해 과학 연구를 이어가겠다”는 포부를 밝혔다.

도성훈 교육감은 “이번 대회에서 인천 대표 학생들이 대통령상, 최우수상, 우수상 등 우수한 성과를 거둔 것을 자랑스럽게 생각한다”며 “앞으로도 학생들의 잠재력을 발굴해 창의융합형 인재 양성을 위해 적극 지원하겠다”고 말했다.
