(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천 서구가 지난 지난 12일 ‘구 명칭변경 추진위원회’를 개최, ‘구민 선호도 여론조사 후보 명칭’으로 ‘경명구, 서곶구, 서해구, 청라구’(가나다순) 등 4가지 명칭 후보안을 선정했다고 밝혔다. 

서구에 따르면, 구는 4가지 안을 두고, 표본 2,000명을 대상으로 ‘구 명칭 선호도 여론조사’를 2주간 실시할 예정이다. 

조사는 전문여론조사기관이 진행하며 여론조사 결과가 집계되면, ‘제2차 구 명칭변경 추진위원회 회의’를 열어 최종 명칭안을 선정한다는 계획이다. 

최종 명칭안은 4월 서구의회 의견 청취, 인천광역시에 명칭변경 건의, 인천광역시의회 의견 청취의 과정을 거치게 되며 이후 행정안전부에 명칭 변경 법률이 제정되면, 새로운 서구의 명칭이 확정된다.

강범석 서구청장은 “구 명칭변경 위원회에서 역사성·지역성·고유성·정체성·상징성·대중성·미래성 등 다양한 기준을 고려하여 여론조사 후보군을 결정했다”며 “새 명칭이 확정될 때까지 많은 관심 부탁드린다”고 전했다.

한편, 서구가 지난 1월 20일부터 2월 9일까지 21일간 진행된 ‘새로운 서구 명칭 공모’에는 총 6,327명이 참여, 1,364개의 명칭이 제안됐다. 

지난 1월 구민 대상 ‘구 명칭에 대한 주민인식 여론조사’에서는 69.5%의 참여 구민이 ‘긍정 의견’을 나타냈다.

Incheon Seo-gu held the 'District Name Change Promotion Committee' on the 12th and announced that it selected 4 name candidates as 'Gyeongmyeong-gu, Seogot-gu, Seohae-gu, Cheongna-gu' (in alphabetical order) as 'Citizen Preference Opinion Poll Name Candidates'.
