(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 계양구 효성도서관이 오는 3월 5일부터 3월 19일까지 지역 초등학생을 대상으로 ‘에스파냐에서 아메리카까지: 콜롬버스 대항해를 따라’를 운영한다고 밝혔다. 

효성도서관에 따르면, 이번 프로그램은 효성도서관 특성화주제인 예술을 접목해 어린이들에게 다양한 문화에 대한 이해를 높일 수 있도록 독서와 체험활동으로 구성됐으며, 매주 수요일 총 3회차로 운영될 예정이다.

프로그램은 주제도서를 함께 읽고 관련 문화 예술체험을 하는 형식으로 1회차(3/5)에는 '돈키호테'를 읽고 돈키호테를 주제로 피카소와 살바도르 달리가 그린 그림을 감상하고 자기만의 스타일로 돈키호테를 그리기, 2회차(3/12)에는 남미의 '해님달님' 설화를 읽고 잉카문명의 탄생과 역사를 알아보고 해님달님 이야기 만들기, 3회차(3/19)에는 멕시코 그림책 '에바 사우르스'를 읽고 멕시코 전통 놀잇감과 의상을 통한 멕시코 문화 체험하기로 진행된다.

한편, 이번 프로그램에서 수업을 진행하는 출판사 ‘라플란타’ 이선영 대표는 한국외국어대학교 대학원에서 중남미 문학 석사를 취득했으며, 스페인 아동문학 번역가로 ‘황금의 땅 엘도라도’, ‘세상에서 제일 빠른 달팽이’ 등을 번역하고, 창작 그림책 작가로도 활동하고 있다.

프로그램 신청은 2월 12일부터 계양구립도서관 누리집을 통해 선착순으로 모집 중에 있으며, 모집 대상은 초등학교 2~4학년, 총 12명이다. 

효성도서관 관계자는 “이번 프로그램을 통해 참여 학생들이 다른 문화의 역사, 예술을 재미있게 배우고, 다양한 시각으로 세상을 보는 글로벌 마인드를 갖추는 데 도움이 되기를 바란다.”고 말했다.

Gyeyang-gu Hyosung Library announced that it will be operating ‘From Spain to America: Following Columbus’s Great Voyage’ for local elementary school students from March 5 to March 19.

According to Hyosung Library, this program consists of reading and experiential activities to help children understand various cultures by incorporating art, a specialized theme of Hyosung Library, and will be operated three times in total every Wednesday.

The program is conducted in the form of reading a theme book together and experiencing related culture and arts. In the first session (3/5), you will read 'Don Quixote', appreciate the paintings by Picasso and Salvador Dali on the theme of Don Quixote, and draw Don Quixote in your own style. In the second session (3/12), you will read the South American 'Sun and Moon' tale, learn about the birth and history of the Inca civilization, and create a Sun and Moon story. In the third session (3/19), you will read the Mexican picture book 'Eva Saurus' and experience Mexican culture through traditional Mexican toys and costumes.

Meanwhile, Lee Seon-young, CEO of the publishing company 'La Planta' who teaches this program, received her master's degree in Latin American literature from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Graduate School, and is a Spanish children's literature translator who has translated 'El Dorado, the Land of Gold' and 'The World's Fastest Snail', and is also active as a creative picture book author.

Applications for the program are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through the Gyeyang-gu Library website starting February 12. The target group is 12 students in grades 2 to 4 of elementary school.

A Hyosung Library official said, “We hope that through this program, participating students will have fun learning about the history and art of other cultures and help them develop a global mindset that sees the world from various perspectives.”
