(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시가 오는 17일부터 원적산 터널 및 만월산 터널을 이용하는 모든 차량은 평일 출퇴근 시간대 무료로 통행할 수 있다고 밝혔다.

인천시에 따르면, 시는 ‘인천시 원적산터널 및 만월산터널 통행료 지원 조례’를 제정해 평일 출퇴근 각 2시간과 명절 연휴기간에 무료 통행할 수 있는 근거를 마련했다.

인천시는 영종·인천대교 통행료 전면 무료화가 시행되면서 내륙지역 주민들에 대한 형평성 문제를 해소하고, 시민이 체감하는 교통복지를 실현하기 위해 이번 통행료 무료화 조치를 시행하게 됐다. 

또 그동안 명절 연휴기간에 한시적으로 시행해 온 원적산·만월산 터널 통행료 면제도 제도화했다.

평일 출퇴근 오전 2시간(오전 7시부터 9시), 오후 2시간(오후 6시부터 8시) 이들 터널을 이용하는 모든 차량은 카드나 현금결제 없이 요금소를 무정차 통과하면 된다. 

다만, 토요일, 일요일 및 공휴일은 제외된다. 

현재 원적산 터널과 만월산 터널의 통행료는 경차 400원, 소형 800원, 대형 1,100원이다. 

인천시는 평일 출퇴근 시간대 이들 터널을 이용하는 연간 약 240만 대 가량이 무료 혜택을 받을 것으로 예상하고 있으며, 민자 터널 내 도로 전광판 표출 및 현수막 게시, 시 홈페이지 등 온･오프라인 매체에도 통행료 면제를 홍보하고 있다.
