(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천자치경찰위원회와 인천경찰청이 자치경찰제 시행 1주년인 7월 1일에 맞춰 시민에게 더 가까이 다가가고자 순찰차를 활용한 자치경찰 홍보활동을 전개한다.

지난 1년간 인천자치경찰위원회에서는 치안행정과 지방행정의 연계를 통해 지역특성에 부합하는 맞춤형 치안시책을 주도하고 있다.

특히, 자치경찰 출범과 함께 시작한 1호 사업 ‘어린이가 안전한 인천 만들기’에 이어 올해 2호 사업 ‘함께 만드는 여성 안심도시 인천’과 같이 시민 체감형 시책을 발굴, 추진하고 있다.

하지만, 이에 대한 시민들의 인식도는 기대만큼 따라오지 않고 있다. 자치경찰에 대해서 아직도 낯설게 느끼고 있다는 의미다.

이에 인천자치경찰위원회에서는 보다 친밀도와 인식도를 높이고자 시민의 안전을 24시간 지켜주는 112 및 교통 순찰차 220대에 홍보 스티커를 부착해 자치경찰을 알리게 됐다.

홍보스티커 문구는 지난 5월 공모전을 개최해 내부 심사와 자치경찰위원회 정기회의를 거쳐 최종 안전한 도시 인천, 시민곁엔 ‘자치경찰’로 결정됐다.

‘안전’과 ‘인천’을 강조하고 ‘시민’과 ‘자치경찰’이 늘 함께 한다는 의미를 담고 있다.

홍보스티커를 부착한 순찰차는 7월1일부터 오는 연말까지 인천지역 골목길 구석구석을 누비면서 주민체감 안전도를 제고함과 동시에 친근한 자치경찰로서의 모습을 알리는 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다.

인천자치경찰위원회는 전면 부착 시행에 앞서 지난 28일 인천삼산경찰서 현장 간담회와 병행해 순찰차 홍보스티커 부착하는 행사를 개최했다.

이 자리에서 이병록 자치경찰위원장은 “이번 순찰차량을 통한 홍보를 통해서 자치경찰에 대한 인식도를 높이고 시민 곁으로 한걸음 더 다가가는 주민친화적인 경찰활동을 펼쳐 나가겠다”고 말했다.
