(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시가 지난 12월부터 시범사업으로 시행해 온 ‘인천e음컵(다회용 컵) 공유(1단계) 시범사업’을 5월 31일자로 종료하고, 6월부터는 ‘인천형 다회용컵 순환시스템(2단계)’으로 확대 운영한다.

인천e음컵 공유(1단계) 시범사업은 시청 직원이 청사 주변 커피숍에서 음료를 포장 주문할 때 보증금 없이 무상으로‘인천e음컵’을 이용하고 사용한 컵은 시청 내 반납함에 반납하는 사업이다.

약 4개월 동안 1회용 컵 16,962개(생활폐기물 237kg)를 감량하는 효과를 거뒀다.  

인천시는 공무원들을 대상으로 한 1단계 사업의 성과를 바탕으로 오는 6월부터는 시민들도 함께 할 수 있는 2단계 사업을 추진하기로 했다.

시청 일대와 인천문화예술회관 주변 카페를 대상으로 ICT(정보통신기술) 기반의 다회용컵 무인 회수기를 도입하는 2단계 시범사업을 10월 31일까지 확대하기로 한 것이다.

2단계 시범사업 참여 카페의 명칭은 ‘인천e음 카페’로 정했다.

1단계 사업에서 사용했던 시 다회용 컵 브랜드인 인천e음컵을 모티브로, 인천의 환경(environment)을 생각하는 마음이 세대와 세대를 이어줄 것을 희망하는 의미가 더해졌다.
 

‘e음 카페’는 1회용 컵이 없는 에코 매장으로 음료를 구매하는 고객은 보증금 1,000원을 내고 다회용 컵에 음료를 받아 매장 안팎에서 자유롭게 이용한 뒤, 무인 다회용 컵 반납기에 반납하면 보증금을 환급받을 수 있다.

무인 회수기는 사업 참여 카페는 물론 시청 및 교육청 등에 설치되며, 고객이 투입한 컵을 인공지능으로 분석한 뒤 보증금을 현금 또는 포인트로 돌려준다.

반납된 컵은 전문 세척업체를 통해 세척․살균․소독 등 철저한 위생 관리를 거쳐 카페에 재공급 된다.

인천시는 이를 위해 참여 카페 약 30개소를 모집 중에 있다.

시청 인근부터 인천문화예술회관 일대의 카페 중 참여를 희망하는 카페는 5월 31일까지 인천시 자원순환정책과에 신청하면 된다.

이번 사업에 참여하는 ‘e음 카페’를 대상으로 시는 시범사업 기간 동안 무인회수기 및 세척비 중 일부를 지원하고 다양한 홍보와 혜택 방안도 마련할 계획이다.

인천시는 10월말까지 2단계 시범사업을 추진하고 사업 효과를 분석해 앞으로 지속가능한 다회용 컵 순환 모델을 구축하는 등 1회용 컵 없는 친환경 ‘e음 카페’를 지속적으로 확대해 나갈 방침이다.

정낙식 시 자원순환정책과장은 “무분별하게 사용되는 1회용 컵 대신 다회용 컵을 생활화하는 지속가능한 모델로 ‘e음 카페’가 자리 잡길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 1회용품 사용을 줄이기 위한 다양한 시책을 적극 발굴해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
