(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 국민의힘 유제홍 부평구청장 후보는 최근 부평지역에 새로운 개발을 진행하겠다는 공약을 연이어 쏟아내며 광폭 행보를 하고 있어 주목되고 있다.

앞서, 유 후보는 부평 캠프마켓을 비롯한 3보급단, 부평공원, 인근의 재개발을 추진중인 산곡5.7구역, 현대, 우성, 화랑농장 등을 포함한 50만평 규모의 미니스마트신도시 개발을 추진하겠다는 공약을 내 놓은바 있다.

17일 유제홍 선거캠프 관계자에 따르면, “최근 유 후보의 공약발표에 일대 주민들이 관심을 보이며, 주민들을 비롯한 인근의 부동산 업체들이 연일 문의전화가 쇄도하고 있어 캠프 관계자들도 놀라고 있다”고 밝혔다.

이런 개발 소식에 ‘캠프마켓부평숲주민추진위원회’는 최근 유 후보를 직접만나 개발계획에 대한 소신 있는 답변을 듣고 간 것으로 전해졌다.

이 자리에서 유 후보는“캠프마켓의 역사 보존에 대한 견해에 대해 역사보존을 부정하는 것이 아니라 기존건물들을 철거하지 않고 서는 오염된 토지의 정화는 공법적으로 불가능 하다며, 기존 건물을 철거 후 오염된 흙을 걷어내 새로운 토질로 바꾸는 치환작업을 진행해야 한다”고 주장했다.

그러면서 “뼈아픈 역사에 대한 보존 가치가 주민들의 삶에 질 개선보다 우선될 수는 없다며, 역사보존은 최소화하고 공원과 도시가 함께 어우러진 현대적인 도시로 개발을 추진하는 것이 부평의 100년 미래를 바라보는 자신의 생각이다”는 견해를 밝혔다.

이 같은 의견에 대해 김재욱 주민추진위원장은 “유제홍 후보의 말씀을 듣고 보니 100년의 해안을 바라보는 남다른 식견에 주민을 대표해서 감사하다”고 박수를 보냈다.

그러나 “자신들의 생각도 유 후보와 결을 같이 하지만 과연 실현 가능성이 있는 것인지? 의구심이 든다”고 묻자.
