(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 최계운 인천시교육감 예비후보가 12일 오전 인천선거관리위원회에 인천시교육감 후보 등록을 한 후 수봉공원 현충탑에서 순국선열과 호국영령에 대한 묵념을 올린 후 헌화했다.

최 후보는 이후 인천시교육청을 방문, 기자들을 만나 후보 등록 소감을 밝혔다.

최 후보는 “그동안 예비후보로서 현장을 다녀본 결과 현재 인천 교육의 문제가 정말 심각하다는 것을 절실히 느꼈으며 인천시민들께서 인천 교육의 미래에 대해 너무나도 크게 걱정을 하고 계시다는 것도 알았다”며 인천교육의 혁신을 위해 나섰다고 밝혔다.

최 후보는 “지난 8년간 인천 교육은 고인 물처럼 썩어 이청연 교육감은 구속되었고, 도성훈 현 교육감은 교장공모제 비리로 측근들이 사법처리 당하는 지경에 이르렀다”고 질타하며 “교육감 직무수행평가 전국 꼴찌를 하고도 어떻게 다시 한번 표를 달라고 하는지 참으로 뻔뻔스럽기 짝이 없다”고 비판의 목소리를 높였다.

최 후보는 상황이 이러한데 또 다시 전교조 출신 교육감을 선택할 것인지, 전교조 출신 교육감에게 우리 아이를 맡길 것인지 의문을 제기하며 ‘선택은 최계운’이라고 강조했다.

최 후보는 무엇보다 이번 인천시교육감 선거에서 지금까지 한번도 이루지 못한 보수 진영의 후보단일화에 큰 성과를 거둔 것이 인천 교육의 역사적 전환점이라고 평가했다.

먼저 인천미래교육연대에서 이배영 후보와 합의에 의한 단일화를 이루었으며 이어 인천범보수교육감 후보단일화추진협의회에서 박승란 후보, 이대형 후보와 3만5천명의 인천시민들이 참여한 2개 기관의 여론조사와 현장투표를 거쳐 경선을 한 결과 인단협 추대 단일후보로 인정받았다는 것이다.

그리고 지난 11일 조전혁 서울시교육감 예비후보, 임태희 경기도교육감 예비후보와 함께 서울과 인천, 경기 지역을 아우르는 ‘수도권 중도·보수 교육감 단일화 대표후보 연대’를 발표했다.

이와 관련 최 후보는 “수도권 중도·보수 단일화대표 후보연대는 인천시민들의 엄청난 응원과 격려 속에 이뤄질 수 있었다”며 “우리 세명은 특정 이념이나 특정 집단의 취향에 맞춘 교육에 단호히 반대하고 수도권의 중도·보수 결집을 위해 연대하기로 했다”고 취지를 설명했다.

최 후보는 유치원, 초중고 자녀를 둔 학부모님들은 교육에 관심이 커 인천 교육의 미래를 한없이 걱정하고 어디서 희망을 찾을까 고민하고 있지만 자녀들을 다 키운 부모님들은 인천 교육에 대해 큰 관심이 없다는 현실을 지적하고 “우리 자녀, 다음 세대의미래를 위해 부모님들이 인천 교육에 보다 더 관심을 가져야 한다. 그래서 두 번 다시 무책임한 교육감이 인천 교육을 추락시키는 것을 막아야 한다”고 강조했다.

최 후보는 “앞으로 교육을 위해 인천을 떠나는 일이 없도록 학교 공교육을 혁신하고 인천 교육의 새날을 열겠다”고 다짐하며 “최계운을 선택하면 인천 교육이 바뀐다”고 강조했다.
