(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 계양구가 참전유공자에 대한 예우와 지원을 강화하기 위해 참전유공자 명예수당을 인상해 지급한다.
계양구는 지난해 12월 참전유공자 지원에 관한 조례를 일부 개정하고 올해 참전명예수당 예산을 확보했다.
이에 따라 월남참전명예수당은 기존 월 13만 원에서 18만 원으로, 6.25참전유공자와 월남참전유공자 중 만 85세 이상은 18만 원에서 20만 원으로 인상됐다.
또한, 6.25참전명예수당은 2019년 9월부터 5만원이 인상되어 지급되고 있다.
참전유공자수당은 국가보훈처에 참전유공자로 등록된 사람에게 매월 지급되는 수당으로, 현재 참전유공자 1,150여 명에게 연간 26억 1,000여만 원이 지원될 예정이다.
한편, 계양구에서는 국가보훈 대상자에 대한 복지증진과 예우를 강화하기 위해 보훈단체 운영비, 보훈회관 운영비, 황어장터 3.1만세운동 역사문화센터 건립과 운영비 증액 등을 추진한다.
계양구 관계자는 “앞으로도 국가를 위해 헌신하고 희생하신 유공자와 보훈 가족들에 대한 예우를 높이고 처우를 개선하기 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
