(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천 서구가 ‘원도심 노후 공원(녹지) 환경개선 사업비’로는 역대 최대 규모인 75억 원 예산을 확보하고 투입해 석남이음숲 미세먼지 차단숲 조성 등 18개 사업을 추진한다는 계획이다. 
 

서구는 ‘신도시보다 살기 좋은 원도심 만들기’라는 슬로건으로 신도시에 비해 구도심이 차별되거나 소외되지 않도록 할 방침이다.
 

서구 관계자는 “그동안 원도심 주민의 휴식공간 공원(녹지)시설 중 20년 이상 된 노후시설이 많아 주민 불편이 있었다”고 말했다.
 

이에 서구는 지난 2020년부터 2년간 총 32억 원을 투입해 주자공원 등 공원 4곳을 새로 조성하고 진주체육공원 테니스장 등 10곳의 체육시설과 휴게시설을 개선·교체한바 있다.
 

2022년 서구는 정부가 추진하는 국가사업 미세먼지 차단숲 조성사업에 원도심일대 녹지 30,000㎡를 포함해 조성한다는 계획이다.

국비 15억을 포함 총 30억 원을 집행해 구도심 주거 인접지역에 숲을 조성하고 공장단지에서 발생하는 미세먼지와 탄소오염물질을 차단해 대기질을 향상시킨다는 계획이다.

이로써 서구는 원도심 주민 건강에 일조하고 국가 목표인 온실가스 감축에도 동참한다는 방침이다.
 

또한, 서구는 스마트 에코 월촌공원 정비사업을 비롯해 공원 5곳 환경 개선 사업의 경우 공원 전체를 재조성하는 사업으로 원도심 주거환경 개선 및 변화를 가져올 것으로 예상한다.

서구 주민참여예산 사업으로 진주체육공원 아동친화 화장실 설치사업 등 12개 사업을 추진해 쾌적하고 편리한 공원을 제공할 예정이다.
