-Break News Incheon Reporter Park Sang-do

The ‘development plan (change) of the Incheon Robot Land Creation Project’, which Incheon City is promoting in Cheongna International City, has recently been approved by the Free Economic Zone Committee of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

The main development plan of Incheon Robot Land includes a plan for the organic arrangement of robot industrial facilities, commercial and business facilities, and theme park sites.

Considering that flexible responses to the innovative growth of the robot industry suitable for the era of the 4th industrial revolution and an eco-friendly complex cultural space where humans and robots coexist are necessary, land use plans that can be interconnected by facility and space and infrastructure based on smart technology are established , and established a development plan including the development of differentiated contents.

In particular, the focus is on revitalizing the robot industry innovation cooperative complex by connecting the value of a virtuous cycle that links technology development, production, and experience functions.

Accordingly, Incheon City is putting all its efforts into promoting various policy projects and laying the foundation for robot industry infrastructure to support the robot industry in order to create a ‘robot industry innovation cooperation complex’ in Incheon Robot Land.

In April of this year, Incheon City, Incheon Technopark, Incheon Port Authority, representative logistics robot companies located in Incheon [Eujin Robot Co., Ltd., Hyundai Movex Co., Ltd.], Korea Robot Industry Association, Korea Electronics Technology Research Institute, Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, Korea Robot Convergence Research Institute The 'robot industry core technology development (R&D)' research project proposed together with others was finally selected for the Ministry of Industry and Trade's public offering project.

The core technology development (R&D) of the robot industry is a project that will start in the second half of this year and be promoted by 2024 with a scale of about 20 billion won, including 15 billion won from the government.

We plan to develop core technologies for mobile robots that reflect the characteristics of Korean-style logistics warehouses, and are expected to create synergy effects in the development of the logistics robot industry in Incheon, which has an optimal location for the logistics industry such as airports, ports, and industrial complexes.

In order to promote the project, Incheon City will support the ‘Robot R&D Center (495㎡)’ in Incheon Robot Land as a test and demonstration space to build the ‘(tentative name) Robot Demonstration Support Center’.

Using the 'Robot Demonstration Support Center' as a bridgehead in the future, we will additionally discover and attract a business that introduces robot testing and certification equipment to support research & technology development, demonstration, and certification of robot companies to establish an integrated support system for the robot industry. It is planning to lead the market as the center of Korea's largest logistics robot by providing a stop service to establish a robot industry innovation cooperation complex in name and reality.

In addition, in order to preemptively respond to the rapid paradigm change in the automobile market caused by the development of ICT (information and communication technology) and autonomous driving technology, and to foster Robot Land as a smart mobility innovation base that converges robots and future automobiles, by 2023, 3 The construction of the 'Connected Car Materials and Parts Certification Evaluation Center' is being promoted with a total floor area of 2,900㎡.

This project is being promoted in connection with the ‘future vehicle communication material/parts development project’, which was approved as a ‘cooperation model between demand-supply companies’ by the government’s Materials and Parts Equipment Competitiveness Reinforcement Committee in January of this year.

The certification evaluation system for materials, parts, and wireless communication technology developed with an investment of about 34 billion won from the government and municipal funds will be established, and the Korea Automobile Research Institute Incheon Branch, the only research institute specializing in automobiles in Korea, will be invited to cooperate with the establishment and operation of the center. will do

The city of Incheon is promoting the project with the goal of preoccupying the initial market and securing industrial leadership in the wireless communication connected field for vehicles, which is growing rapidly as a core field for future automobiles.

With this project as an opportunity, it is planning to establish a cooperative system with the Korea Automobile Research Institute to promote the conversion of Incheon automobile parts companies centered on internal combustion locomotives into future vehicles and to promote innovation in the Incheon automobile industry.

A 'connected car' is a future car capable of two-way wireless communication by applying information and communication technology to the vehicle. It is also used as a core technology of

Based on this robot industry innovation cooperation complex and infrastructure construction, Incheon City is actively carrying out activities to discover promising robot anchor companies and institutions at home and abroad that will play the role of priming investment in Robot Land, and to attract investment.

Last April, we achieved the result of signing a business agreement with RoboRobo, the No. 1 educational robot company in Korea.

RoboRobo Co., Ltd. plans to integrate and relocate the dispersed headquarters, research institutes, and factories to Incheon Robot Land through an investment of about 9,900㎡ (about 3,000 pyeong), and promote a new AI-based educational robot business.

Even after signing an agreement with RoboRobo Co., Ltd., inquiries from promising domestic robot companies who wish to relocate to Incheon Robot Land continue, and even now, exchanges of opinions on investment transfer with companies are actively underway.

“The robot industry, a core industry in the 4th industrial revolution era and a strategic industry in Incheon, is responding preemptively to the situation where growth is accelerating due to the increase in non-face-to-face demand after the post-coronavirus and changes in the working environment due to the aging of the population To this end, we plan to develop Incheon Robot Land into the largest robot industry cooperative complex in Korea by discovering various policies, actively participating in government competitions and proposals, and supporting the innovative growth of the robot industry,” he said.
