The National Council of Provincial Superintendents of Education announces a “statement calling for the withdrawal of the decision to release contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan”
“The total ban on the use of Japanese seafood for school meals”
-Reporter Park Sang-do, Break News Incheon

The National Council of Provincial Superintendents (Chairman Kyo-jin Choi, hereinafter referred to as “the council”) called for the withdrawal of the decision to release contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan, and issued a statement condemning the decision by the Japanese government.

The council announced on the 16th that the council, which took the lead in ecological environment education for a sustainable future through the “a statement calling for the withdrawal of the decision to release contaminated water from Fukushima nuclear power plants in Japan,” said that if the Japanese government enforces the discharge of radioactive water contaminated water,

To protect the safety of our children, the council established a system of cooperation to protect the safety of our children. ▲ Totally banning the use of Japanese seafood in school meals ▲ Expanding the inspection of harmful substances such as radioactivity in food ingredients ▲ Production of educational materials and training on the basis of the Japanese government's anti-ecological decisions He said he would do it.

He also said, “I strongly urge the Japanese government to withdraw this decision immediately so that the marine ecosystem, a source of life and a common asset of mankind, is not destroyed by radioactive water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant.”

On April 13, the Japanese government officially decided to release contaminated water stored in the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant into the ocean.

Neighboring countries and the international community have criticized and strongly opposed the selfish and irresponsible decision, concerned about environmental pollution, destruction of the marine ecosystem, and widespread safety issues that the ocean discharge of polluted water will bring.

In addition, the council said, "Recognizing that the Japanese government's selfish judgment will become a boomerang of a global disaster and will eventually return to them, we urge once again to withdraw the decision to release radioactive water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant."

The following is the full text of the statement.

Statement from the Council of Superintendents of Education, “Calling the decision to release contaminated water from Japan's Fukushima nuclear power plant”
“Establishing a cooperative system for the National Council of City Superintendents for Safe School Meals”

On April 13, the Japanese government officially decided to release contaminated water stored in the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant into the ocean. It is a very selfish and irresponsible decision made unilaterally despite strong opposition from neighboring countries and the international community concerned about environmental pollution, destruction of the marine ecosystem, and widespread safety issues that the ocean discharge of contaminated water will bring.

Our National Council of Provincial Superintendents of Education, which has taken the lead in ecological and environmental education for the sustainable future of children, expresses deep regret for the Japanese government's decision. In addition, I strongly urge the Japanese government to withdraw this decision immediately so that the marine ecosystem, a source of life and a common asset of mankind, is not destroyed by radioactive water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant.

The 17 metropolitan and provincial superintendents across the country share the recognition that the Japanese government's decision will destroy the marine ecosystem and cause a global disaster. If the Japanese government enforces discharge of radioactive water, the National Council of City Superintendents of Education has established a cooperative system to protect the safety of our children, completely prohibiting the use of Japanese seafood in school meals, and inspecting the radioactivity of food ingredients just in case. Hazardous substance testing will be expanded. Along with this, we will actively respond to the Japanese government's anti-ecological decisions through production of educational materials and training on occasions.

Recognizing that the Japanese government's selfish judgment will eventually return to them as a boomerang of a global disaster, I urge once again to withdraw the decision to release radioactive water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant.
