Gyeyang-gu, an alley-shaped storefront, was opened.
Establishment of standards for enforcement and designation of the revised “traditional market law”
-Reporter Park Sang-do, Break News Incheon

Gyeyang-gu is planning to designate and support an alley-shaped shopping street so that Gyeyang-gu can revitalize the local economy and support small business owners who are suffering from the recession and Corona 19.

According to the existing “Distribution Industry Development Act,” “shopping streets” account for more than 50% of wholesale and retail stores, and areas where restaurants, etc., which occupy a significant number of alleys, were not designated as shopping streets, so they were excluded from various support.

As the revised “Traditional Market Act” came into force in the second half of last year, standards for designating areas where small business owners are concentrated as alley-shaped shopping streets, regardless of business type, have been established, so that restaurants clustered areas can be designated and supported as alley-shaped shopping streets.

The standard for store concentration in alley-shaped shopping streets is an area where more than 30 stores are concentrated in an area of less than 2,000 m2 operated by small business owners, and local governments can designate an alley-shaped shopping area in consideration of the characteristics of the area, the size of the commercial district, and the possibility of development.

When designated as an alley-shaped shopping street, businesses such as revitalization of commercial areas equivalent to traditional markets or shopping streets can be supported.

Gyeyang-gu is promoting the enactment of ordinances to stipulate the details of designation and support for alley-shaped shopping streets. As soon as the ordinance is enacted, it is expected to receive applications from merchants or merchant organizations who wish to designate an alley-shaped shopping mall through active publicity.
