(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 서구가 20일, 세계 맑은 공기 연맹과 한국공기청정협회가 주관한 ‘제11회 공기의 날 기념식’에서 인천 자치구 최초로 ‘Good Air City’에 선정됐다.
‘Good Air City(굿 에어 시티)’는 한국어로 ‘맑은 공기 모범도시’를 뜻한다. 안전하고 깨끗한 대기질 만들기에 앞장서는 것과 동시에 희망적인 미래환경 도시의 모범을 제시하는 도시에 주어지는 인증서다.
서구는 열악한 환경을 개선하기 위해 다각도로 접근, 종합적인 대책을 추진해왔다.
먼저 고질적인 민원의 대표격이었던 악취와 대기 문제를 해결하고자 사물인터넷(IoT)에 기반한 스마트한 악취·대기 관리, 24시간 악취콜센터 운영, 악취·대기배출시설 보조금 지원 및 기술진단, 전국 최초 주거지역 악취실태조사, 민·관·전문가 협력에 따른 악취·대기문제 해결 등에 집중했다.
이외 장기적인 효과를 목표로 폭넓게 접근해 서구형 미세먼지 저감 종합대책, 다중이용시설 공기질 관리시스템 구축사업, 녹지총량제 운영, 11대 서로이음길 조성, 지속가능한 테마도시 스마트에코시티 추진 등을 역동적으로 추진하며 서구의 대기질을 획기적으로 바꿔나가고자 체계적인 시스템을 갖춰가는 중이다.
이러한 노력의 결실로 서구는 환경부에서 평가하는 배출업소 환경관리실태평가 ‘우수지자체’에 4년(2017~2020) 연속 선정된 데 이어 이번 ‘맑은 공기 모범도시’ 인증까지 획득하면서 환경정책에 모범적으로 나서고 있음을 다시 한번 대내외에 알리게 됐다.
