자료에 따르면, 2020년 9월 15세 이상 인구는 254만 5천명으로 전년동월대비 1만 2천명(0.5%) 증가했다.
경제활동인구는 163만 4천명으로 전년동월대비 1만 7천명(-1.0%) 감소, 경제활동참가율은 64.2%로 전년동월대비 0.9%p 하락했다.
비경제활동인구는 91만 2천명으로 전년동월대비 2만 8천명(3.2%)증가했다.
비경제활동인구를 성별로 보면, 남자는 32만 4천명, 여자는 58만 8천명으로 전년동월대비 남자는 1만 1천명(3.4%), 여자는 1만 8천명(3.1%) 각각 증가했다.
2020년 9월 취업자는 156만 2천명으로 전년동월대비 3만 1천명(-1.9%) 감소했다.
산업별로는, 전년동월대비 도소매․숙박음식점업 4만 6천명(-12.6%), 제조업 8천명(-2.4%) 각각 감소한 반면, 건설업 1만 1천명(9.2%), 사업․개인․공공서비스 및 기타 1만명(1.8%), 전기․운수․통신․금융업 5천명(2.3%) 증가했다.
직업별로 보면, 전년동월대비 서비스․판매종사자 4만 5천명(-11.2%), 사무종사자 1만 6천명(-5.4%), 관리자ㆍ전문가 9천명(-3.2%) 각각 감소한 반면, 기능․기계조작․조립․단순종사자 4만 2천명(7.2%) 증가했다.
종사상 지위별로 보면, 임금근로자는 126만 9천명, 비임금근로자는 29만 2천명으로 나타났다.
임금근로자는 전년동월대비 1만 7천명(-1.3%) 감소했으며, 이 중 임시근로자는 4만 1천명(-10.6%) 감소한 반면, 상용근로자는 1만 4천명(1.7%), 일용근로자는 9천명(14.6%) 각각 증가했다.
36시간 미만 취업자 중 1～17시간 취업자는 전년동월대비 8천명(7.9%), 18~35시간 취업자는 1만 5천명(8.1%) 각각 증가했다.
36시간 이상 취업자 중 36～52시간 취업자는 전년동월대비 2만 7천명(-2.5%), 53시간 이상 취업자는 5만 9천명(-25.5%) 각각 감소했다.
일시휴직자는 4만 8천명으로 전년동월대비 3만 2천명(210.5%) 증가했다.
주당 평균 취업시간은 39.2시간으로 전년동월대비 2.1시간 감소했다.
2020년 9월 고용률은 61.3%로 전년동월대비 1.6%p 하락했으며 성별로 보면, 남자는 70.5%로 전년동월대비 2.0%p, 여자는 52.4%로 전년동월대비 1.0%p 각각 하락했다.
실업자 동향을 살펴보면, 2020년 9월 실업자는 7만 2천명으로 전년동월대비 1만 4천명(24.8%) 증가했다.
성별로 보면, 남자는 4만 8천명으로 전년동월대비 1만 6천명(50.8%) 증가한 반면, 여자는 2만 5천명으로 전년동월대비 2천명(-6.8%) 감소했다.
