(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 도로교통법위반(음주운전)으로 징역형의 집행유예를 선고 받고도, 보호관찰 기간에 또다시 무면허운전을 감행한 40대 운전자 A씨가 집행유예 취소 기로에 놓였다.

법무부 인천보호관찰소가, 지난 3월 16일 오전 9시쯤 준법운전 수강명령 교육 참석 차 무면허운전을 하여 보호관찰소에 출석한 A씨를 적발해 인천미추홀경찰서에 수사의뢰하고, 인천지방법원에 집행유예 취소 신청을 했다고 밝혔다.

A씨는 지난 1월 도로교통법상 음주운전으로 청주지방법원에서 징역 1년에 집행유예 2년, 보호관찰 및 준법운전 수강명령 40시간을 선고 받고 그 형이 확정된 바 있다.

집행유예가 취소되면 그는 1년 동안 교도소에 수감된다.

도로교통법위반(음주운전)으로 징역형의 집행유예와 사회봉사명령 160시간, 수강명령 40시간 처분을 받은 B씨는 지난 6월 24일 오전 10시쯤 보호관찰소에 출석하여 보호관찰관에게 “차 댈 때가 없다”고 말했다가 무면허운전 사실이 적발되기도 했다.

2026년 상반기 동안 무면허운전을 하여 보호관찰소에 출석했다가 적발된 사람은 총 14명에 이른다.

인천보호관찰소 보호관찰과장은 “앞으로도 준수사항 위반자에 대해서는 재범 방지를 위해 선제적으로 적극적인 제재조치를 실시할 것”이라며 “교통사범 지도 시 대상자의 진술에 의존하지 않고 현장 확인을 통해 무면허운전과 음주운전을 억제하는 등 안전한 지역사회 조성을 위해 노력하겠다”고 말했다

Driver A, in his 40s, who committed unlicensed driving again during his probation period despite having been sentenced to a suspended prison term for violating the Road Traffic Act (Drunk Driving), is now at the brink of having his suspended sentence revoked. 

The Incheon Probation Office of the Ministry of Justice announced that it had apprehended Mr. A on March 16 around 9:00 AM for driving without a license while appearing at the office to attend a law-abiding driving course. The office has requested an investigation by the Incheon Michuhol Police Station and filed an application with the Incheon District Court to revoke his suspended sentence.

Mr. A was sentenced by the Cheongju District Court last January to one year in prison, suspended for two years, along with probation and a 40-hour law-abiding driving course, for drunk driving in violation of the Road Traffic Act, and his sentence has since been finalized.

If his suspended sentence is revoked, he will be incarcerated in prison for one year. 

Mr. B, who received a suspended prison sentence, 160 hours of community service, and 40 hours of mandatory training for violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving), appeared at the probation office around 10:00 AM on June 24 and told the probation officer, "There is nowhere to park," only to be caught driving without a license.

During the first half of 2026, a total of 14 people were caught driving without a license after appearing at probation offices.

The Head of the Probation Division at the Incheon Probation Office stated, "We will continue to implement proactive sanctions against violators of compliance requirements to prevent recidivism," adding, "We will strive to create a safe community by deterring unlicensed and drunk driving through on-site verification rather than relying solely on the subjects' statements during traffic offender guidance."
