(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천 부평구의회가 6일 제276회 임시회 제1차 본회의를 열고, 제10대 전반기 의장에 김환연 의원(더불어민주당), 부의장에 여명자 의원(국민의힘)을 각각 선출했다고 밝혔다.

부평구의회에 따르면, 이날 의장으로 선출된 김환연 의원은 당선 소감을 통해 “제10대 전반기 부평구의회는 의원님들의 뜻을 하나로 모아 화합하는 의회가 될 것”이라며 “52만 부평구민의 대의기관으로서 집행부에 대한 견제와 균형, 그리고 건설적인 대안 제시에 충실한 의회를 만들겠다”고 포부를 밝혔다. 

이어 “늘 구민과 함께하는 겸허한 자세로, 현장 중심으로 성실하게 일하는 의회가 되도록 노력하겠다”며 “의장으로서 그 중심에 서서 부평구의회가 구민에게 신뢰받는 선진의회로 거듭날 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 약속했다.

또한, 이날 부의장으로 선출된 여명자 의원은 “동료 의원 여러분과 함께 지혜를 모아 의회의 품격과 역량을 높여 나가겠다”며 “김환연 의장님을 중심으로 의회 운영에 있어 집행부와 협력할 사안은 적극 협력하되, 견제와 감시라는 의회 본연의 역할 또한 충실히 수행해 구민들로부터 신뢰받는 의회를 만들어 가겠다”고 소감을 밝혔다. 

아울러 “의원 상호 간의 화합과 존중, 원활한 소통을 바탕으로 의원들의 의정활동에 불편함이 없도록 최선을 다하고, 생산적이고 품격 있는 의회 문화를 정착시키는 데에도 노력을 아끼지 않겠다”고 덧붙였다.

한편, 이번에 선출된 전반기 의장과 부의장은 오는 2028년 6월 30일까지 2년간의 공식 임기를 수행하게 된다.
