(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시가 미래 첨단 기술의 핵심인 양자컴퓨팅 생태계 조성에 박차를 가하며, 관내 기업들을 위한 ‘초격차 전략’ 추진에 나선다고 밝혔다.

인천시에 따르면, 시는 연세대학교와 협력해 ‘2026년 인천 양자컴퓨터 활용 지원사업’에 참여할 기업을 모집한다. 

이번 사업은 높은 기술 난이도와 구축 비용으로 인해 민간 기업의 접근이 어려웠던 양자컴퓨팅 기술 활용 기회를 제공해 지역 기업의 미래 산업 경쟁력 확보를 지원하기 위해 마련됐다.

양자컴퓨팅은 기존 슈퍼컴퓨터로 장기간 소요되는 연산을 단시간에 처리할 수 있는 차세대 기술이지만, 현재 일부 글로벌 기업 중심으로 활용이 제한돼 있어 산업 현장의 접근성은 낮은 상황이다.

이에 인천시는 관내 유망 기업 6개 사를 선정해 연세대학교 IBM 127큐비트 양자컴퓨터를 활용할 수 있도록 지원할 계획이다. 

선정 기업은 QPU 런타임 기준 약 350~550분의 컴퓨팅 자원을 활용해 자사 서비스의 알고리즘 개발 및 기술 검증을 수행하게 된다.

인천시는 이번 사업을 단순한 기술 지원을 넘어 인천을 ‘양자전환(QX) 기반 산업 생태계’로 확장하기 위한 전략적 기반으로 보고 있다. 

특히, 기업들이 양자 알고리즘을 신약 개발, 물류 최적화, 신소재 설계 등 다양한 분야에 적용함으로써 고부가가치 산업 경쟁력 강화에 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

지원 대상은 인천에 소재한 기업 또는 공고일 기준 3개월 이내 인천으로 이전하거나 설립 예정인 기업 중 양자기술 활용 및 알고리즘 개발을 희망하는 기업이다. 

신청 기간은 2026년 4월 27일부터 5월 15일까지이며, 전자우편을 통해 접수할 수 있다. 

최종 선정 결과는 서류 심사를 거쳐 5월 27일 발표될 예정이다.

Incheon City announced that it is accelerating the creation of a quantum computing ecosystem, a core element of future advanced technology, and is launching a 'Super-Gap Strategy' for local companies.

According to Incheon City, the city is recruiting companies to participate in the '2026 Incheon Quantum Computer Utilization Support Project' in cooperation with Yonsei University.

This project was established to support local companies in securing future industrial competitiveness by providing opportunities to utilize quantum computing technology, which has been difficult for private companies to access due to high technical difficulty and implementation costs.

Quantum computing is a next-generation technology capable of processing calculations that take a long time on existing supercomputers in a short period; however, its utilization is currently limited to a few global companies, resulting in low accessibility for the industrial sector.

Accordingly, Incheon City plans to select six promising local companies and support them in utilizing the IBM 127-qubit quantum computer at Yonsei University.

The selected companies will utilize computing resources—approximately 350 to 550 minutes based on QPU runtime—to develop algorithms for their services and verify their technologies.

Incheon City views this project as a strategic foundation to expand Incheon into a "Quantum Transformation (QX)-based industrial ecosystem," going beyond mere technical support.

In particular, it is expected that companies will contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of high-value-added industries by applying quantum algorithms to various fields such as new drug development, logistics optimization, and new material design.

Eligible applicants are companies located in Incheon or those planning to relocate to or establish themselves in Incheon within three months of the announcement date that wish to utilize quantum technology and develop algorithms.

The application period runs from April 27 to May 15, 2026, and applications can be submitted via email.

The final selection results are scheduled to be announced on May 27 following a document review.
